all these rumors are garbage started and stirred by pinnocchio who never has had any reliable sources or cracked a rumor that led to reality, unless a reliable source such as dreger tweets it, its garbage in my mind
- mydoglicks

I think Bill has this about right. Flyers offered Read, LA leaks they are asking for Couturier plus to see if they can drive up prices in Toronto, NJ and NYI. When they realize they will drop out, the price will go back down to Read, or the Flyers will walk too and they will be left with a 2nd round pick.

They need to do what they need to do to get up in the top 5 and get Nichushkin. Trade a roster player, #11 and something next year and get this kid.
- Jimmygrazz

Nichushkin is a great prospect but I'd be wary of giving up too much. He's not a sure thing.

Speaking of draft weekend, I'm emotionally prepared for the Flyers to do anything and everything.

Honestly, who knows what this team is gonna look like on July 4th?

pure trash.

McKenzie tweeted two days ago that the Flyers are buying out Bryz and Briere.

- bradleyc4

i believe briere is, i think bryz will be if they get another goalie

I assume that the Flyers have already considered what he's going to be making in the next few years and whether or not he'll fit.

If that's the conclusion, then so be it. But he'd very helpful on the team this upcoming season if the goals are high.

- bradleyc4

The way this org veers off course, it makes me wonder if they have?

Let's just trade for Adam Oates and Billy Tibbits. All will be right in Flyerdom again.

Thank you....

But then you need to replace him, which will cost more $. He could be used at the TDL if the year is a flop or they need to get over the hump. He could be attractive then. He's a guy I wouldn't mind dealing heading into the POs if the Flyers are in a position to make a run since it would be tough to resign him next year anyway. Like I said, I don't know enough about Bernier though to say whether or not Read is worthing trading for him.
- funmaster18

I'd say trading Read+ would be worth rolling the dice on Bernier as long as the "+" isn't outrageous.

Hi Bill,

Quick question. Anyone else please chime in as well. Are you comfortable with Schenn or Couturier being the second line center? Do you think there is a chance the Flyers target someone like Ribiero or Weiss to make the current depth stronger and move Schenn to LW?

yup.
his low cap hit right now increases his value as well

- nails

His production/$ value is definitely the most alluring thing about him as a trade target.

And Hartnell had a poor year last year. If he can get back to his form 2 years ago, we should be in pretty good shape offensively if the younger players take a step forward this season.
- funmaster18

Exactly.. I dont see Hartnell hitting 37 goals.. but 28 is do-able. I see Voracek anywhere from 25-35. With G hitting say 25, thats roughly 80 goals from just the top line...

I'm sure they've run the numbers for at least 5 years out.

Their conclusions may change by the week, however.

I think Schenn is your second line winger, and I think we will be very impressed.

i know enough that instinct tells me that timp and seravali where stirring the pot yesterday for attention and nothing they ever said becomes true....its funny how out of all the teams the flyers are the only team in the headlines for all these crazy a$$ rumors

It is a high risk, high reward situation. If you trade a roster player (Maybe 2) you get some cap relief at the same time. You will have him under your control for a few years at a low cap hit.

Yeah, all that and you could end up with Alex Ponikarovsky instead of Alex Ovechkin.

I would be willing to do this as well. If you do, then I definately think Couturier would be traded for a top defender. I can completely see the following happen, but I'm not predicting it.

11th overall + Coburn + Cousins for 5th overall. Nichushkin or Barkov.

Couturier + Meszaros for Shattenkirk.

Sign 2nd line center.

It would be nice but I see it as a distant (pull out your telescope) hope...

On a side note anyone else hoping to see how Alt does in the AHL this year? I'm kinda hoping we see him in some pre-season games.

Personally I'm comfortable with it. I'd like to give them the room to actually prove they've got it. Let's see what we have.

I'm perfectly fine with Schenn being the second line Center and Couturier centering the third line.

I should be GM.
