I would. If a player isn't drafted, they have to work even harder to get a job in the NHL and still there is no guarantees that way. He's very fortunate because he could have found a home in the AHL and never moved up at all. He's about 28, so I'm sure it took along time to put himself on the radar.

I personally would not categorize that as a struggle. He had to work harder to get what he wanted.. He didnt struggle. Struggle is what you saw out of a guy like Chet Pickard.

And giroux could flop tomorrow but not likely to happen...read has been consistent game in and game out, hes a smart player...i dont understand is he going to get stupid all of a sudden and loose his obvious skills?.

Who cares how a player gets to the NHL? Isn't it about how they perform in the NHL that really matters?

Barring any upcoming trades, I think Streit and Coburn would make sense together.
- BulliesPhan87

either that or Schenn and Streit, Timonen and Coburn - I remember them being a really good pairing.

I would not pair Timonen and Streit.

Agreed. Wasn't really thinking about the combinations.

I thought Giroux flopped last season? Did he even come back from Germany?

Considering the head is part of the nail, I assume so.

Most forwards see their production peak around the ages of 26-29... and then, there's either a gradual or sudden drop-off due to the biology of aging, cumulative injuries, diminished role, or all of the above.

Take Simon Gagne for example... his best years were in his mid-late 20's, then everything seemed to catch up with him at once. He's still a smart player, useful two-ways, but his days as a threat are over.

Giroux's not even in the window of peak production yet, no worries there.

Hew was off by .2 pts per game 2012:1.2 and 2013:1.0... I wouldnt call it a flop, but i think he needs a sniper which he was missing last year.

Read does not have the same wear and tear the giroux has. if he was.

For aurguments sake, lets say he was 22 or 23 what would his value be with his current production?

Agree on giroux no worries there...i think we can throw away last season...

Here's an interesting thought (to me anyway), where does Bryz land if he is bought out? Does he go back to Russia or field interest from the NHL? If the NHL, who would be interested?
