Jeff Carter once was told that he wouldn't be traded to Columbus. A couple of days later he was traded to Columbus. So if i was Bryzgalov i take whatever Holmgren says with a grain of salt. |

Briere should play for a contender. There's still a lot of teams that he could still play in the top 6 forward positions. Teams like Chicago, Pittsburgh, Washington, Boston, the Rangers, St. Louis... I could go on more, but he should go for his last chance at a Stanley Cup, not play for a team like Buffalo. |

...and chicks for free.
DO NOT CONSIDER BRINGING HIM BACK...he's 35 and we are rebuilding so our young players need ice time to develop not sitting or getting 6 minutes a game - IonSabres
The young players you have will learn more and become better playing WITH someone like Briere then they will playing with other players their own age. One of the best things Briere did was mentor Giroux and Couturier. Heck, one year playing with Jagr dramatically improved Hartnell, Giroux and Voracek. |

Avalanche to pass on Seth Jones to take forward, Joe Sakic says
After a week of internal meetings, Avalanche brass came to a conclusion: Jones won't be their pick. Instead, it could be any one of three forwards: Nathan MacKinnon, Jonathan Drouin or Alexander Barkov.
"If we do pick first, we're leaning more toward one of those three forwards," Avalanche executive vice president of hockey operations Joe Sakic told The Denver Post.
The passing over of Jones no doubt will come as a shock to many Avs fans and NHL watchers. Jones, 18, is still ranked as the top-rated prospect available in next Sunday's draft on the lists of some scouting services. The Avs have seemingly glaring needs at defense and a surplus of centers — the position at which MacKinnon and Barkov play, while Drouin is a winger........more......

Pavel Datsyuk (Current Cap Hit 6.7 Million)
Career +/- (+229)
Danny Briere (Current Cap Hit 6.5 Million)
Career +/- (-18)
Hopefully that tiny flaw in the young player mentoring program would be over-looked.
Darcy would never sign Briere. If his agent reached out and said young Danny would sign in Buffalo for $1 Darcy would not do it. |

Sens should sign him and put him with Pageau and Conacher. Then we'd have full line up of midgets (sadly I am their height) |

As much as I'd love to have him back,
You're so right.
When u guys played the Hawks, I actually did the unthinkable and cheered for u!
All bc I wanted to see Briere win
It would be a great, feel-good story if he were to come back, but he deserves to go somewhere he has a shot at winning the cup |

The latest bit of info I came across on who I think the Sabres should be targeting in the draft...
Barkov scored 21g-27a-48pts this season...
As a 17 year old (4th youngest player in the league)!
That on its own is pretty incredible
Compare that to what Mikael Granlund (stud prospect for the Wild) did last year... When he scored 20-31-51pts...
But as a 20 year old!!!
That's how good this kid already is
Think about three years from now?!
He's 6'2, and already up to 210lbs
And his scouting report is littered with comparisons to NHL superstars
http://lastwordonsports.c...l-draft-player-profile-4/
"His hands have been compared to Pavel Datsyuk"
"Elements of a long-lost Sedin brother in his game"
"Hard worker winning battles along the boards... Loves to drive the net"
"Defensively well developed... Strong 2way game"
The kid has to stay 1 more year in Finland,
So maybe Nashville will trade the pick for help now?
#8 + Ennis?
I'd trade Vanek straight up for #4... He'd prob have to agree to an extension for them to do it though
If we can work out some type of decent deal then I'm all in
This kid is gonna be special |

Daniel Briere is a good fit with the sabres I think. At 3-4m for 2-3 years. He really bridges the gap with the youth. Would he come back? Does Regier want him back? Those are the two questions... |

3 yr deal 11.1 mil. Give him all but the league min every year as a signing bonus. Add in the 3.33 mil he gets from Philly, not a bad payday for an almost 36 yr old hockey player.
4.8 550k base, 4.25 signing bonus
3.6 550k base, 3.05 signing bonus
2.7 575k base, 2.125 signing bonus
3.7 cap hit |

Soooooo.......
We should trade Vanek + #8 or #16 to Nsh for the 4th pick, and draft Barkov.
Then trade Miller + Stafford to Wild for Seto and Granlund?
