For the sake of argument, suppose realignment was putting the Flyers and Penguins in different confrisions. Would that impact your asking price?
- BulliesPhan87

initially no, because id still try my hardest to get the two guys i mentioned. from what i gather, coots is the young guy that most people want to hold on to. so okay, im fine with that because he doesnt fill a huge need on the pens regardless.

there really arent any defensive parts on the flyers id be that ecstatic about getting. i like grossman a lot, but he isnt exactly a big fish, and his health concerns are worrisome right now.

voracek is borderline stud right now, speed, playmaking, and seems to be developing a hell of a scoring touch, all while under control for a good cap hit.

simmonds i am certainly a fan of as well, a hartnell light for another great cap hit.

id take the pair of them and call it a day, all for the same combined salary (maybe even less) than what letang is going to get. of course, id probably be told to go conduct intercourse with myself if i called up homer with that proposal, even if we werent in the same division

JVR is a stud. Why Philly traded him straight up for luke schenn baffles me

Ya he did a nice job making them look silly this year

to be fair, getting consistent top line minutes and staying relatively healthy finally will do wonders for a guys stat sheet

Yeah, I wouldn't entertain that offer if I'm the Flyers GM in this scenario, not with only one year left on Letang. I'd rather wait it out to take a stab at him in free agency.

Meh, most of that comes from a great start to the season. Personally, I'm not broken up over it. Schenn22 was one of the few bright spots in an otherwise dismal 2012-13 for the Flyers.

true. i was operating under the hypothetical that he was signed long term to go the other way. but yeah. from the flyers, thats what i would want. they can keep cooter and the schenn brothers. for all the talk around their value, the two i mentioned are the ones id most covet. those cap hits are going to be absolute gold in the coming years

And according to Bylsma, MAF is the starting goalie next year. He's either a liar or is very masochistic or most likely enjoys sniffing glue before his season ending press conferences.

Fixed that for you...

And according to Bylsma Despres will be a top 4 defenseman next year so yes a lot of those minutes will be his. Better get used to the idea because it's likely to happen
- dbell646

I fully expected Despres to get a lot more minutes regardless of the Letang situation. I'm just not sure who his partner will be if he's gone. There's no other guy on that roster who is a capable top 4 player.

I don't want either of the Schenn's...one is a punk the other is the most overrated d-man of the last 5 years, you can thank TO for that one.

agree with this.

I'd probably accept Voracek/B.Schenn/Talbo in return.

How about Brian Boucher, a 7th round pick, and Pronger's visor (barely used!)?

Voracek/B.Schenn is an OK offer for Letang + Talbo, our sloppy seconds

I'd miss cooke, but he is expendable. If Dupius walks I would like to see him back, but Penalty Killers can be trained and I wouldn't miss moments like the mcquiad call. Pens are going to lose s a few players and 2 mil for sooke for three years is a bit much. Pens going to have to sign at least one top 6 guy (assuming dupius stays, and either bennett/jokinen make the top 6). My thoughts on getting salary shed are moving nisk, not resigning cooke, moving orpik

Dude, I can't stand Brayden Schenn and want no part of him, but this is utterly ridiculous. I hope this is a joke.

I was always afraid of JVR on Philly. I was so happy to see him go and a mediocre defenseman who could barely handle top 4 minutes come into Philly

i like cooke: tough, gritty, eats minutes, PK, durable. bad reputation more than anything any more. would hate to play against him. but he does make the occasional idiot play. what is his asking price? 3 years?

would prefer 2 yr deal. is that possible? dos shero want him regardless of $?
