If i'm homer, i wait until July 5th....if they don't trade him, give him an offer sheet and make it at around 4 mil. The Flyers would lose a 1st and a 3rd next season, but would get their goalie without having to give up any current roster guys. No way LA matches that deal. They wouldn't want almost 10 mil tied up in their 2 goalies next season. - cap1681
Why not make it low enough to make that compensation a 2nd round pick? I think the number I heard to do it was $3.1 AAV. Either they take the second rounder, or they match, have a ton of money tied up in goaltending this season, and can't trade him for a year.
Lose/lose scenario for LA. I'm not a raving fan of the gunboat diplomacy, but it's viable I guess.

I'd go just below the 1st/3rd threshold ($3.3M I think) and, if they matched that, throw a $5M offer to Voynov.

I think there will be bunch of teams offer sheeting him around top of that 2nd round tender amount. Offering more money pretty much guarantees that he signs the Flyers offer sheet. Maybe even 3.75 mil.

Brisson's done pretty well with the Flyers, so I think he'd probably counsel Bernier to take their offer.

Well, there's the factor of which OS Bernier wants to sign. The Flyers could sweeten the pot by upping the dollars, but I'd really like to keep that first round pick.

Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
Logan Couture's contract extension with SJS is 5 years at $6 million per year. Can't be signed til July 5. Makes $2.875M next season.
Last two season combined - 128 GM / 52 G / 50 A / 102 PTS
Dupuis last two seasons - 130 GM / 45 G / 52 A / 97 PTS
Not saying Dupuis is worth anything near $6 million per year, and obviously a big age difference, but if I'm Dupuis' agent, I am mentioning this during negotiations.

Couture is 10 years younger, and most likely the teams future captain. Different situation.

Duper's age is THE issue. He still seems to have speed to burn, but you never know when he might start to decline. You can't be giving 5 mil to a 30pt player in two years. It just seems out of character for Shero when you look at his past work. He's a bargain hunter. I don't see that changing.

Pascal has 212 points in 379 regular season games as a Penguin...and so far Shero has paid bargain basement prices for that production.
So what is Dupers worth to Shero now...and will that keep him here?
Is a 4 year contract worth 16M doable from both sides?
If Dupuis plays all the games in those 4 years and scores a .5 points per game...that's 164 points in 328 games (this kind of assumes he'll decline but the first two years will be closer to what he has done the past two).

Is that a 4M forward?
Would 4M per keep him here? - icedog97
If Shero was offering 16M for 4 years, the deal would be done already.
@emptynetters - Boston media part 1: "Crosby's whining about a hit from two weeks ago." Boston media part 2: "Matt Cooke hit Marc Savard three years ago!!!"
Not a chance in Hell this would even be discussed by the GMs, but:
What would you guys think of Hartnell for Letang? Yes, Letang's the better player. But Hartnell's signed for 5 more years, and would instantly go from super villian to super hero in Pittsburgh (and vice versa in Philly). Plus you get a top-6 winger to play with the super centers (it's a very "super" deal) who can do a bit of everything. He's like James Neal with a physical game. Just wondering.

Yeah...I get that...
Kinda asking the question...what is he worth to Shero?
Is he a 3M a year player to Shero and a 4.5 to somebody else?
When you consider ALL that Dupers does...there is a pretty strong argument for the money. Jagr gets 4.5M for similar point totals and he's not nearly as versatile.
I think a player like Dupuis is essential in Bylsma's system.

i hate hartnell, but respect the hell out of him as a player. however, theres no way id do that one. i wouldnt want to give letang to the flyers, and hartnell's age is a big concern
