Looking at some Dmen around the league, noticed Scuderi is almost definitely going to free agency. Has anyone kept an eye on him? Is he still worth a couple million if Letang is traded?

Yes. I would say so. Would be a great veteran guy to bring in. He would help a younger guy a lot in development and make a solid partner for almost any defenseman on the roster. We'll have to see how it plays out but he could end up being priced out of the Penguins range. I hope not though.

Orpik is a keeper. He brings a lot of things to the team that goes unnoticed. I cousld see him getting a discount to remain with us

Definitely. We can't afford to break our best defensive duo after a very good season. Orpik is not getting any raise IMO. Voice of reason in the locker room and a safe presence in the back.

Everything I have read points to him re-signing in LA. Similar quotes to what Pascal Dupuis has been saying (good situation for family, good team, etc...) And unlike Dupuis he is probably not looking to increase his price by that much.

Depends on what they want to do with a guy like Willie Mitchell. Could buy him out/amnesty to make the room for Scuderi. Penner is most likely a goner. All their other signings arent due huge raises as they are RFA's. Personally if I were the Kings I would find a way to fit Scuderi in there. If not, the Penguins should be interested.

They pretty much have to move Bernier though, right? Chances are they get a decent player (with some salary) back, and then have to sign a backup goalie. Things are going to be tight there (like a lot of places) next season.

Excelent options.

Some guy wrote this on the TribLive article about Letang and I found it interesting:

1. Dan Hamhuis would only agree to be a Penguin if he could sign the contract after free agency opened. He called to agree to the contract but Shero said no. He said this in an interview in Vancouver after he signed there. Shero made an arbitrary deadline which he should have known wasn't going to work given this particular player and lost the player because he was too stubborn to change it. Hopefully Shero learned from that failure. 2. I'd prefer that Letang isn't traded but if he is I hope Shero gets a young winger. How about trading with Anaheim for Emerson Etem (21) - big right winger with finish, John Gibson, top goalie prospect, 1st round pick etc? Bennett - Crosby - Etem would be fun.
