Ya this year....and when was the trade?
Kessel has been a great scorer every year he has been here, but the trade itself didn't improve the results of the team for the first several years. Hence why people keep referring to it (right or wrong)
And use your head...Nonis will not be trading a 1st rounder for Bernier...come on...get real. I believe LA wanted a 2nd and 3rd liner last time there were rumours of a Bernier to TO trade. - Fakepartofme
I believe they wanted Frattin straight up, and the Leafs turned it down, however, his price has probably gone up after last season. |

Bozak has priced himself out of anything that makes sense regarding him anymore. |

Frattin was pretty unnoticeable most of the season...so they might not want him...but it was only one half season. |

It was Frattin and Scrivens, as the Kings needed someone to back up Quick, because Martin Jones is the next goaltender on the Kings' farm and he was still a year or two away from being NHL ready. |

Would be something if we could work out a blockbuster with LA, involving Bernier, one of their 1st line centers: Carter, Richards, or Kopitar, and maybe one of their defenseman. Mind you, I said a blockbuster. Have to give up alot, to receive alot. |

Big off-season move? Horton? That guy is a warrior and would be a great fit on the top 6. Then you can move Kulemin back to the 3rd line. |

horton is no warrior.. actually fairly injury prone.

I wanted the Leafs to do that deal then, and they really should have, now it's going to be more of a bidding war with other teams involved. Honestly, I see him going to New Jersey, holding the fort for the next 10-15 years, and us Leaf fans kicking ourselves. |

He's expendable, I don't think he has all the tools to put it all together in the NHL fulltime. He has flashes of brilliance, but his inconsistency stands out big time. |

Wrong Jonathon. You would be thinking about Quick, not Bernier.
In 5 years all Bernier has proven is that he does a good job of keeping then bench nice and toasty.

If anything, it would push you to be better. Quite the person to follow, and besides, the team game in front of goaltenders pretty much makes anyone look good or great. Hedberg... |

Remember that time when Kipper and Maclean said Luongo to Leafs was a done deal for Kadri and Bozak, and we were just waiting for the lockout to be over? |

Not if we want to ice a competitive team. His contract is/will decent and he can play a third line shift. We can't keep making every player we have explendable.
Bozak
Grabbo
Macca (agreed)
Frattin
Komorov
Orr
Kuli
They have all been called expendable. That's 7 of our 12 forwards from last year. We need to ice a team, and it needs to be don't under the cap. |

It doesn't mean they'll all be moved, but it's players that have some trade value, and at the same time are replaceable. If we were to trade Frattin and Scrivens, I don't think we'd have a hard time finding a replacement in free agency, or even having somebody else emerge from our farm system. He is 26 years old, and has yet to put it all together. |

Don't see that. I love his work ethic and hustle. Great 3rd liner, PK guy that may turn into a scorer, he has pretty nice hands. |

He's definitely a hard worker, but he doesn't seem to have all of the necessary tools to be in the league long term. I like the guy, but if he got moved with Scrivens for Bernier, I wouldn't be upset. |
