are there any top 4 Dmen available as UFA? probably not. Leafs are better off keeping Franson maybe overpaying a little now for some cheaper years down the road... say 3.5-4 x 5 years. I think it would be a mistake to let him go.

Scuderi? he will cost 4+ would be fine for 2 or 3 years, but im sure he gets a 5 year deal somewhere

Option are, Scuderi, Ference, White ..I dont like Murray, he looked slow in Pitts.

Hainsey was a guy who got a big $ contract in Atlanta because he was supposed to be an offensive d-man. but he actually fell into a role of a steady stay at home guy.

i could be wrong but i think he was one of the few guys who actually had a positive plus / minus on the jets back end.. i am sure that was the case in atlanta.. kinda sure thats the case now (i'd have to check tbh)

My point is, that every guy can block shots. All of them. But they all do not have the skills to score on a consistent basis. Why bring in another 3rd / 4th liner, when we have a team full of them.
