Do you play at Ice Works in Aston, Pa?
- jak521

I think you'll find that lazy-assed forwards are a universal thing.

We even have them here in Toronto.

If Mez is traded, and Grossmann is still out... do we see Lauridsen on the roster at the beginning of the season?
- TrentKlatt

I don't mind giving him a look see during the pre-season. But if Lauridsen is one of our top 6 then we've done something very wrong in the offseason.
I think he gained confidence last season but he is not ready for serious duties without us expecting a ton of growing pains. I expect to see him but I really hope we aren't banged up enough he holds a regular top 6 spot.

They're pretty much all projects which frightens me.
- NickTheKid87

Yep, the offensive guys (Pulock, Morrissey) are boom or bust projects.

The rest project to be more defensive guys.

Ristolainen is the guy I feel most comfortable with, but he's tough to project because he's taken an odd path to the draft.

Its still my opinion the Flyers may look to trade Coburn in an attempt to move up to the 5th overall pick. I think they will also sign another defenseman and trade Meszaros too. And yes, I also think they will be trading for another goalie. Either Bernier or the rights to Emery or Nabakov or Vokoun.
- youarewrong

Vokoun is still signed for one more year. I'm also against trading with rival teams when both are competitive. Makes me nervous.

I'm not sure why we are even discussing possible 1st round defenseman options, The Flyers are going to draft a forward anyway.

Speaking of forwards though, realistically what do you think Read deserves for his next contract?

I'd say between $2.5 million and $4 million depending on the year he has.

If it was his long-time dream I think they would've been able to talk him down from $5.25

Honestly, I worry more about his upper body...his shoulders to be specific. And they tend to take a pounding up against the boards for defensemen.
- wolfhounds

If he continually had surgery on his shoulders this year, I would be too. But from what the injury reports said, he only rehabbed the shoulder the first time. With the poor performance after he came back and the subsequent injury to the shoulder, I think he tried to come back too soon and without adequate healing time or surgery that should have been required. Basically his sin was that he was a Hockey player and wanted to get back to help his team. Now that he's had the surgery and time to heal, I'm not that concerned about it.

I'm just wondering because if what he's going to be offered is more than we can afford, why not try to turn him into Bernier? I love the kid and would hate to see him go but better than letting him walk for nothing.

Let's see what Clarke MacArthur gets this off-season. Something similar, probably a little more.

You'd have to think it would be Read+ for Bernier. Not sure what the + would be... Depends on other suitors I suppose.

I think the coburn, 11th package to carolina is a very real scenario. Who would they sign to replace coburn? There's no one really on UFA that's not 34 yoa. For instance scuderi or maybe ference would be a hockey fit but they are older.

Oh definitely. No way would it be a 1 for 1 type swap. Especially if it turns into a bidding war between a couple teams.

Im warming to the idea of Bernier. As long as Read stays and we pay no more then a 2nd and a prospect not named Laughton.

Or Gostisbehere or Stolarz.

I think trading Coburn would be a big mistake.
