Bob stauffer. Didn't confirm but gave some indication. He works for the oilers so knows some stuff. He's the main radio/media guy for the team

I doubt Barkov will slide to 6th.

6th overall: Lindholm or Monahan
22nd overall: one of Manthra, Erne, Mueller or Pulock
28th overall: Klimchuk or McCoshen

Thought it might broaden my audience...I know theres several french speaking people who frequent this site, cant say there are too many people blogging about hockey in french outside of the Habs.

@Bob_Stauffer: My guess is that the #Flames will be making a deal for Corban Knight's rights

@Bob_Stauffer: For those asking @CorbanKnight holds the cards in where he goes. Am told he has family connection to #Flames. Good opportunity for him there

haha hey I have np with it, I was commenting on numbears post I say all the power to you. it doesn't affect anyone's daily life and in fact stats have shown that people that speak or read multiple languages have higher iq's...

the amount of franco flames and habs fans in Calgary would probably be very surprising to those 2 fan bases. having lived there for 18+ years ive seen and heard a lot of French. soooo many franco's have helped build the community in Calgary. (frank)ig awesome!

I really think they can steal Morrissey at 22. He would be a solid pickup for defensive depth.

Man I am really pissed off about knight. We have only spent the last four years developing this guy and now he does this. I hate these kids that screw their draft team before they even play a single game in pros. He is the same as Schultz what to the last minute and now you can't get anything for him!

“After my season finished, we had talks with Florida and negotiations took place, but it turned out it wasn’t going to work out for both parties. We told Florida we were going to wait until free agency (Aug. 15) or a trade,” explained Knight.

The Panthers have drafted Jonathon Huberdeau, Vincent Trocheck, Nick Bjugstad and Quinton Howden in the past three years, and they want to give them a shot. After speaking with the Panthers and looking at their depth chart Knight and his agent felt it was in his best interest to test the free-agent market.

Three teams have contacted the Panthers about acquiring Knight, and the Oilers are one of them, according to my sources. Will they sign another top college free agent two years in a row?

I couldn't disagree more with this blog.

The types of players that come later in the draft are much more easily acquired later on. The top-tier prospects -- talent Calgary is lacking -- are incredibly hard to come by. If you have the opportunity to get 1st overall, you take that shot. 100%

You can always find capable, two-way centers. You can't always find a MacKinnon.

Though I see your point, Calgary would be best to draft the best guys available to them with their three picks, allowing them to stockpile on talent and potentially allow for trades down the road. They could very much have a solid chance at drafting high again next year to add to this. Mackinnon would be great, but in my humble opinion three prospects like the ones available at this years draft would be better long term. Just the way I see's it!

Then I would be fine with a Lindholm, Morrissey and say Santini or Rychel.
- Colin Dambrauskas

You did not really answer the question. You basically did what you put in your blog and are picking 3 great players that you want, but the flames might think otherwise.

The question was would you rather have Mckinnon or Lindholm (6), Petan(22) and Fucale(28)?

Look back at my other post for reasons why Petan and Fucale could be targets by the flames.

So, you would be disgusted at the notion of having a blog presented in two languages? Even though you are from Canada where a large portion of the country speaks French? Interesting.

why trade sven tho?
- munky123

Just saying if they want to move up into those franchise players you aren't getting it for picks.

I sincerely doubt the Flames go after Fucale in the first round, despite several others thinking they might. Im not very high on Petan and would hope they selected someone better with their 22nd pick. Flames need some size, which he does not provide.

So, if your question was either those three guys in specific or Nathan, I go with Nathan.

I don't feel we should be bilingual. 1 province out of 13 speaks french. They also continually talk about separating from Canada. Let them go. Canada would be a lot stronger without them.

while I agree, I thik it pertinent to keep sven. im usre all flames fans would love to have a player like the guys in the top 3, but I think this team needs more quality than say just 1 superstar. I see your point tho

It would be a tough sell no doubt, but if you are a GM do you see Sven as a franchise player? If the answer is no, but you see someone in the top 3 as a franchise player then you really have no choice but to make the deal.

Its not a matter of being bilingual or not...Canada is a multicultural country and it so happens that most of the country speak English and French. There are french communities just about everywhere in Canada. Just a fact.

French is the mother tongue of about seven million Canadians (22.3% of the Canadian population, second to English at 58.4%).

i don't see him as franchise, but i do see a competitive flames team with say 10+ quality first and second rounders insulated with quality vets. it would almost be a disservice having McKinnon surrounded by a bunch of crap.
