I wouldn't hope for that after watching Thornton stapled to the bench during the 3 OT's of game 1. - golfingsince
I would like to see Carcillo flatten a few Bruins. But I am afraid about his rep. I might have done it in game 3 over 4, though. We Need to win game 4 or we have no chance. Mayers would been good 5 years ago but I think he is done now. He was the type of grinding vet that could match a Paille and Kelly |

The discussion about this one player is completely irrelevant to what's happening in the series to date.
Seriously, did you see any real difference between Stalberg's play tonight and Kanes? So why beat a dead horse over a 3rd/4th liner?
Bottom line is that the Bruins handed the Hawks 5 opportunities to score on the PP and they didn't even come close. Crawford played well enough to win most games. Keith played an outstanding game. Bolland didn't. Saad did next to nothing. Leddy tried real hard but ultimately his solo efforts produced nothing.
TEAMS win games, individuals don't. - RickJ
Very true on Stalberg.
I would argue neither goalie deserves the superlative credit they've been getting. Every shot is from a bad angle, and dirty goals are next to impossible when four guys are waiting to clear the puck and everyone is ultra-defensive minded. 30 goalies in the league can do the same thing in this system. Hawks just need to score the first goal and play a complete, patient, game. |

me niether but that was tough to watch reminds me of the Detroit series when they were getting in front of Howard. it sounds basic but if they get traffic and pucks to the net they can still beat these guys. - Ruboy88
It is very basic. So, tell me who do you think are the guys that will be going to the front of the net to battle with Chara, Seidenburg and Boychuk for the next 4 games? The list is probably a very short one. |

Guess others were preferred. I like the kid but am suspicious of his defensive awareness. He tends to turn pucks over a lot in the neutral zone, but then again...the whole phuck'n team's been doing for over 5 periods now. - philco28
That explains it. I figured he would have been cured of that 2 seasons later, but some are slow to or never learn. Still, I'd play him game 4 as well if for no other reason than he has fresh legs. |

Need more effort from the wingers to get to the puck off the draw... - CBHawks88
Exactly. There are a lot of those 50\50 draws edzo always talks about. Teams actually draw up plays on what to do in that event. I wonder if Hawks do? Players really need to jump in and help out |

Lot of things they could be doing, but ARE NOT...
1. come up with some SIMPLE lines and LET THE BOYS PLAY
2. get over center, dump, bang, chase and create....instead of 4-5 passes coming out and committing turnovers galore
3. win a few faceoffs and HIT EVERYTHING THAT MOVES...instead of fly by after fly by after fly by
4. say PHUCK U to Chara and pound the phuck out of him and GET TO THE NET and funnel EVERYTHING into the slot. Chara's getting a Fog Hat Free Ride. |

Bickell, Bolland, Shaw, Zeus, and Stalberg....but he'll have to change his name from Noballsberg

Carcillo won't intimidate Boston, just make them angry. IMO the best way to play the Bruins is to avoid trying to trade hits with them. Very few teams in the league can match them in that style of play. A healthy LA, maybe the Blues.

But that is Carcillo's job. His job is to agitate them into making a stupid.....
nevermind. |

This is so indicative of how mercurial this board has always been... Now we're putting Seidenberg and Boychuck in the HOF?
Even JJ's gotten all rah-rah and bandwagon when they win and this blog (while pretty true) was written out on a ledge somewhere...
Bickell, Shaw, Toews and Smith are pretty darn good at what they do for their respective lines... They just need to regroup and bring it. |

You still have to go to the dirty areas and need players that are willing to do that. However, instead of trying to punish them physically you need to try and make them skate with you. Chara and Lucic among others are beasts, but skating isn't their strong suit. You aren't going to wear them down by hitting them, make them try and keep up with you. The best way to transition is for the forwards to get back and close the gaps instead of being in the corners trying to finish checks.
Play to your strengths, not theirs. Just my opinion. |

Maybe you're right. We did see a little steroid rage from chara on bickell at the end of the game. Or that roid rage on emelin during the regular season. Chara is truly terrifying when he roid rages. But I still think hawks have to hit a lot more. And chip the puck past their d and make them turn |

I only watched 57 minutes of game seven between you guys and the Bruins. How many times did Carlyle juggle the lines during the series? |

There will be absolutely no offence created by the Hawks unless they put some bodies in front of Rask and physically challenge and occupy Chara, Boychuk and Seidenburg for space 'in the house'. If you do that, suddenly your skilled shooters have extra some room to operate. Other than Bickell, who else is going to do it - not Ben Smith, not Mayers, not Kruger or Frolik.
I put Jimmy Hayes in the lineup expressly for that purpose on the PP. I don't give a crap if he can't skate or doesn't look pretty, he's a big body and fresh and a hard man to move. |

When you fire 40+ shots at the net, one or two are bound to hit a body and go in.....

How were they "fluky"? That's exactly how you need to beat Rask (or any goalie at this point in the season) - put players in front of the net and have redirections, pucks off of people - that's PRECISELY how the Hawks are going to beat Rask and the Bruins. Fire shot after shot (40+ times).. you're going to get a few in. |

I'm a Canucks fan, but Carlyle did some juggling. I did notice that they exposed the B's with speed however. |
