>Here's my 5-on-5 Xs and Os solutiion to getting back in the series
>Play the "Torpedo" with your two wingers
>That is, neither Hawk winger should ever enter the Hawks own zone
>Keep them out in the neutral zone when Boston dumps the puck in
>Dare the Boston D to try to enter the Hawks zone -- if they do it opens up chances for 2on0s, breakaways, 2on1s and at worst, 2on2s
>All the Hawks D have to do is "ice the puck" -- which will rarely be an icing
>The Torpedo truly stretches the ice and makes the Boston D vulnerable
>Years back, I saw an East Coast Prep School game in which one team was like the Bruins, the other like the Hawks
>The "Bruins" were dominating and winning 3-0
>The "Hawks" coach switched to the Torpedo and scored 5 straight goals in the last period and a half winning 5-3
>Think the Torpedo could really work

So why the long conference after if it wasn't reviewable ?

And, with all video equipment available, it should be reviewable

because the play was called dead before the whistle actually blew.

He shouldn't either. Gallagher and Huberdeau were both consistently better with less help.

But to hang our failures on a 20-year-old is a bit unfair. Saad should not need to be a difference maker in this series.

Kane+Toews+Hossa+Sharp. Those are the guys that need to step up and take control this time of year.

- andru2797

Not hanging OUR failures solely on Saad, but he's playing DUMB hockey. He's trying to beat 1 or 2 guys with moves that haven't worked all year. He's successful if he's driving wide with speed and getting his big frame in the low/high slot. Lot of blame to go around, but Saad's brain dead play right now is maddening.

Don't disagree with any of this...but there are more important things to worry is all I'm saying.

Don't blame the ref for the whistle...Rask's pad was blocking the puck which was nestled INSIDE the right post. Should have gone to video like the Kane goal that won the '10 Cup. Otherwise, turn off all the cameras and let zebras blow calls all night.

Spare me. If a person like "smell my glove" or "glove stuck where" or whatever is hitting the misogynist key too often than call him on it BUT let's not PC ourselves into oblivion.

And don't ever touch "the ginger sisters" that may be the most fitting moniker for a pair of players in the history of sports.

- tredbrta

I'm not sure why it's PC to treat people with respect: when you use terms that apply to women as an insult, it's not treating them with respect.

Tired of hearing that PC bullpoop: treat people with respect.

And a mistake by the officiating system to wipe out the 2-0 goal in Game 2. Why have video review if it isn't used properly ?
- philco28

Yes, no one has been able to answer that. Why review a play when the ref has it (or is calling it) dead. It is a copout that saves the refs a$$ from missing a call. That is all it is! F that.

Oh he is. Crawford is a good goalie. Rask is (playing at least like) a great one.
- John Jaeckel

Yup, IMO it will be Crawford, Price and ....Smith maybe even Luongo invited, based on this years results.

Oh yes....faceoff impotency, line blender BARF, diapers for half the puss ies on the club and sitting a top 10 ten playoff scorer (Bickell) for 49 of the 60 minutes.

"bigger in terms of playing style"

I am copyrighting this. This is my theme for 2013-14.

- John Jaeckel

Given the lower cap, the UFAs and RFAs that have to (should be) resigned, and the state of the Hawks' front office - it may be YOUR theme, but it's not likely to be the HAWKS' reality.

Disappointing. Really going to go with the "I know U R but what am I" defense....

If you can't bark with the big dogs don't lay on the porch. Consider a tatoo of that if your mommie will allow it. Actually though. I think the following is much more fitting.

Don't use the words "stuck" and "glove" in your handle if you are going to be vulgar a$$hat of a troll.

JJ, can we get some Mods in here? Sheesh, the name-calling / arguging has gotten out of hand and is so far off topic.

Or can you get Ek to upgrade the message boards to include a block method for users you don't wish to see posts from? Please pass that on to him.

There was a new one assigned just a few days ago. Amazing, Ian's thread you get banned for anything but here we get these types that just get to go on and on.

Is that a new rule - call the play dead? So now players shouldn't play to the whistle becasue the play could be over at any time?

I see now, no wonder Jackman and Beiska do all their crap after the whistle, because really that does not mean the play is dead, right. Why even give zebra's whistles?

Just a friendly reminder - the average size and weight of both teams is nearly identical. What the Bruins have is Lucic - no other team has a winger that can do what he does when motivated. And of course Chara.

The Bruin forwards are playing a very hard on the puck kind of game and its working for them. No Pretty Boy Floyds on that team - by contrast the Hawks have a few too many.

- RickJ

I think the Bruins were the largest team in the NHL with LA second. Hawks were way down the list.

Difference is the Bruins play big. If Hossa plays they will do what the Hawks have not done with Horton - run him at every opportunity.

Plays bigger. Kruger, another example.

Plays smaller: Stalberg, Saad.

- John Jaeckel

Agreed.

Stalberg is really an enigma at this point. 6'3" - 209lbs and very, very fast. His size and speed would allow him to play an agressive checking style and allow him to get back into the play if he got behind. Really no physical excuse for him not to be an agressive forechecker/backchecker. We wouldn't be lamenting his stone hands so much if there was more aggression to his game. Also, there's no physical reason why Stalberg couldn't be an effective penalty killer - again, good size and speed.

Commitment and desire - seem to be lacking in some that possess the physical qualities to be much better players. A frustrating waste of talent.

I'm absolutely not trying to troll on that, I just want to add -- I think a lot more sanity could be saved if we had the ability to just block posts from users we don't want to see. I love reading the hockey debates as pertains to the Hawks and the NHL. I don't love the obvious trolling and then hijacking it endears to the discussion.

That, and you dont know if the whistle blew before the puck crossed. You also dont know if the Hawks would have held onto a 2 goal lead, (they probably would have,... but....) This has been a great series, and Bruins are only up one game. There's a lot of hockey left to play, I like how the teams are startiing to have a bit of animosity towards each other, I think the end of game 3 will carry into game 4.

Impressive - making the playoffs consistently by walloping teams like the Oilers, Wild, Flames and Avalanche. Enjoy playing LA, Anaheim and SJ on a more regular basis.
- RickJ

Check your facts the past few seasons the #canucks had more success against the Pacific than they did the northwest.myself personally I'm hoping to see more of the cali teams. Canucks are not slouches

This time of year if they say anything its probably a mis-direction. dont want to have players targeting an injury.

This could easily be 2-1 Chicago. It was nothing short of amazing that Rask was able to make all those save during the 1st period of game 2. All it takes is a mistake by the Bruins D and the Hawks are all over Rask.
- glove_was_stuck

Ahhh. An attempt to moderate your posts - throw in something like this and you may not get banned later.

This was a fact. Rask saved the Bs Saturday. It also completely contradicts the trash you were posting most of the morning.
