If anyone is remotely considering putting Jimmy Hayes in the lineup you're season is 100% over.

There will be absolutely no offence created by the Hawks unless they put some bodies in front of Rask and physically challenge and occupy Chara, Boychuk and Seidenburg for space 'in the house'. If you do that, suddenly your skilled shooters have extra some room to operate. Other than Bickell, who else is going to do it - not Ben Smith, not Mayers, not Kruger or Frolik.

I put Jimmy Hayes in the lineup expressly for that purpose on the PP. I don't give a crap if he can't skate or doesn't look pretty, he's a big body and fresh and a hard man to move.

- RickJ

Jimmy Hayes isn't the answer and neither are any if the other black aces. While Hayes is a big man he doesn't use his frame properly. Shaw is more effective in that type of role.

How's it working so far with the alternatives?

What happens if the Hawks come out on Wednesday night and win 3-1 come back to Chicago for Game 5 and win a 2-1 game.

Let them lose Game 4 before anyone says this series is "over".

I hear ya, but I'd feel more comfortable putting my season on the line with Bickell or Shaw over Hayes. There may be a place on the team next year for Hayes, but not right now.

It isn't over, the Hawks just need to be better. Their strength is supposed to be the transition game so they need to start transitioning better and when they do drive the puck to the net.

All things considers Smith was ok tonight, but I'm torn if he should be out there over Pirri (assuming a Black Ace must be played). I know Smith is probably a better bottom 6 forward, but Pirri could bring something too. Although I'd much prefer a healthy Hossa.

Too fancy through the neutral zone, too many passes, too timid all around.

Get it over center and SKATE, CHECK, PASS, KNOCK 'EM ON THEIR A S S .

Smith's a winger and we were down a winger so i'm think'n that's why he possibly got the nod. His o/t goal vs Van bought him a lot of good karma and he cashed some of that in tonight.

Let me get out some chalk and side walk and do this real slow for you. Victor Stalberg simply is not your problem. He created chances and was a net positive. To suggest otherwise is dishonest.

If anyone is going to sweat what 25 does, and does not realize the guy is a compliment piece to your core, and you do not fairly assess or analyze your core...then you have no clue what the real problem is with the team.

The power play, like last year, is the weakness of the team. By 10 furlongs. This game had a 4 or 5 hit difference, irrelevant.

All those cliches don't matter, Snoop Dog said it best back in the day. Want some , get some ,bad enough, take some. This is what this series is about. It is what the cup is about. All the style points and BS is just that. Lost 2 - 0 I goal in last 5 periods. Figure that out and things should get better.

Anyone who does not think the Horsepoop pp does not drain energy from everyone on the team is kidding themselves.

Series is far from over.

- TrueGrit

I'm with you on Stals...he wasn't the problem...and if anyone thinks Bollig or Carcillo playing would increase the number of scoring chances...you're high.

The PP has been bad for years, regardless of the coaches. The one constant has been "the core". I still place most of the blame on the guys who lace 'em up, not the suit. A decent PP is not rocket science and these veterans should be able to win draws, set up, get in front of the tender, and get pucks to the net.

A barkin' coach with a blackboard is not a difference maker, and always blaming the suit is too damn easy...and changing coaches HAS NOT WORKED.

The organization needs to find the talent for the job, and waiting for Leddy to become "that guy" may take awhile, and how 'bout signing someone not afraid to stand in the slot.

For next year, the PP must be more of a priority....but forget this year, this version of the PP is useless.

Regarding the series itself...I'm not real confident at this point, but I sure hope you're right.

This. This is how you will beat the Bruins. Also, you need better movement on your PP when you get them.

If you want to complain about your PP so be it but the Kings had the same system in the Finals last year and scored 6 PP goals in 6 games in the Finals. It's outnumbering your opponent and working hard. Hawks need to play with some desperation and get the puck into the zone which they have a lot of problems doing.

Q is over thinking pretty much everything.

Get it out,
get it deep,
get it back and
get ma'phuckers in front of Rask.

Agree with all this. I still don't know what happened to keith? He was on the 1st pp in 2010 that had so much success. Campbell was really good on unit 2. Obviously having buff in front was huge. He was a lot better than anything we have now. But I still think shaw and bickell can be good enough going forward. We need a d-man that just knows how to get pucks through. They don't have to be slap shots that take forever to set-up like keith does. Just a little wrister causes so much trouble

Honestly considering making a list with you and all the other people who declare series "over" before a team wins 4 games. Its driving me crazy. Why on Earth are you watching then? And don't give me any "your drinking the kool-aid crap, the Kings were hurt, we got lucky, this team is so soft" crap because its the Stanley cup freaking finals and they were one goal away from a 2-1 series lead and there is still tons of hockey to be played

Wow this thread sure got trolled by canucks fans. As a Bruins faithful for the past 25 plus years, I will say that I respect this Hawks team a hell of a lot more than the floppy whining pussification of a team from Vancouver that made it to the finals in 2011.
