@DarrenDreger: The Streit signing sends a strong message both Briere and Bryzgalov will be bought out.
Looks like 50/50 is being generous....

If they buy out Briere and Bryzgalov, they have $4,364,405 in available cap space, with 23 players signed, a goalie to add, then one player to send down, so they have around $5 million to throw at a goalie.

And Pronger's LTiR hit of $4.9mm, whenever that kicks in.

The picture looks very fuzzy to me. Streit is not a difference maker, but not a bad signing. But, if they want to make a major acquisition they are going to have to move (trade) some salary away.

I am not sure a buyout of Bryzgalov is the best option at this time. I thought he was pretty good most of the year but badly overworked. Does nobody else fear the possibility that Bryzgalov after being bought out will go to a good team (eg. St Louis) and win a Vezina and lead them deep into the playoffs. I saw no evidence that Bryzgalov was the primary cause of the Flyers problematic season.

Bryz isn't winning a vezina I'm sorry but I do think he will play well on a team with a somewhat decent defense in front of him.

Wouldn't mind seeing the avs pick him up. Serious need for a scoring winger.
Parenteau-Duchene-Briere line is enticing

I would love it!! Heart is pretty set on Seth Jones though

Although I've flirted with the idea of drafting Mackinnon and trading Stastny for defensive help.

This

You could send Stastny to Buffalo for Myers or to Vancouver for Edler, for instance. Many teams would love to have Stastny.

Briere may be aging but overrated? A player doesnt become overrated until he wears a leaf jersey.. Thought everyone knew that

if he is being bought out by the Flyers, why would he be considered the top guy on the market? He was just bought out for a reason.

Hit a nerve did I?
Sorry, but the reality is that the Flyers have become a collection of fat cats run by an owner and a GM who are out of touch with how a team is built now.
I won't argue that the Leafs and their players get far too much attention, but like most teams they have learned you can't throw money at a problem and hope it gets better.
Liked the Flyers when they had Richards, Carter and Pronger.
Pronger can't be helped, but losing Carter and Richards hurt alot.
Should have traded Hartnell and his wife instead (knudge, knudge, wink wink)

The thing is, the dude who went backwards had a serious jump on the other car...if, you know, he was going the right direction.
