I'm not advocating he not get bought out, I'm saying it's ridiculous to lose respect for him for not waiving his NMC.
- NickTheKid87

It's really not. It just means we're different. I also lost some respect for Iginla with the whole confirmed trade to Boston, err I mean Pitt thing.

It's an opinion. And we all know Danny somehow worked out playing in Germany during the lockout, and there are at least 1 or 2 teams closer to Philadelphia than Berlin.

Any Hab rumours?

No specific Hab rumors, but it is being reported that all the Canadian teams still suck.

This family sh*t is really starting to make me sick...Most athlete's have to deal with family issues as it's a part of the sporting culture...He got lucky that he's able to make tons of money off of a buy out and then sign elsewhere for more $...That's the (frank)ing bottom line...
- Flyfreaky

The Philadelphia Flyers are the ones who decided he was worth that salary and that cap hit for these years, with absolutely no guarantee that the salary cap wouldn't be coming down. The teams like the Flyers not having to live up to their end of a deal are just as lucky as the players getting bought out.

Buffalo is on the border of Canada, so you can lump them in there as well.

You're forgetting that Briere has primary custody of his kids, and his decision would be to allow his ex-wife to have easier access to them, rather than the other way around.

You mean evidence of another team being interested in a trade for Briere?

when the contract was signed they couldnt predict the future of the cap, with gary and his buddies allowing the poor markets in the league to continue to struggle.

The situations are totally different. What Iginla did was give his team a list of teams he would go to. A trade was made, even going so far as to have each team make roster moves in anticipation, then Iginla says no thanks, I really only meant one team. He put his own team and the Bruins in a bind.

Briere is under no obligation to accept any trade to whatever crappy team who will take his cap hit. I have no problem with his decision not to accept a trade if it indeed was even on the table. Which is pure speculation on your part.

for example sake, lets say the panthers could take on briere's cap space and wanted to trade for him. why does briere owe it to the flyers to accept a trade to the worst team in the league?

And by one of the most popular flyers in recent history he means the fans only wanted to trade him 3 times a week. I have lived in the Philly area for years and they are terrible when it comes to supporting their players positively. When they had carter and Richards they wante them both out all the time and I guess I was missing something because they were two of their best players. I have also heard them scream and shout to trade Danny to which I would always reply he has a NMC and isn't waiving it.

man, you are so smart, what a genius that you were able to determine he has a NMC.

Exactly. Flyers couldn't predict if the cap would go up or down, but thought he was worth the cap hit. That makes them lucky that when the cap is going down they are able to get out of their end of the deal. Cap could have easily gone down if there was another wave of recession, or Canadian/US money conversion rates went south, but Flyers would have been stuck in those situations. Instead, they are getting off easy. Just like players getting to double dip are lucky.

He's lost a step, has had some injuries, and can't play wing and is terrible on defense.
In the right situation, playing center with protected offensive zone starts and with proper line mates Briere could still be effective for somebody. He last thrived with Leino and Hartnell but that was a few years ago. The Flyers, even after the Carter and Richards trades, still have a log jam at center.

Good luck Danny.
The 2010 playoff run for the Flyers was memorable and you were a huge part of that.

- Marc D

I am sure Toronto will consider him. Could take Bozak's #1 center job and be reunited with JVR and Loops. Who knows?

I agree. Briere doesn't owe it to the Flyers to accept any trade. Never said different.

And Gagne didn't have to accept a trade to Tampa either, but he did...
