Does anyone else see Bernier as a good fit in Calgary? - Bluesbreaker
For one of their late first rounders, given the Kings lack 1st's this year.. I think that would make sense.
I mean Calgary could still draft 2 good players, and get a starting goalie with the other, not a bad haul.. |

I think calgary will take a chance with ramo first. they need their picks this year to trade up or to draft prospects.
Maybe their pitts pick, since it may be used on fucale |

Not sure if I want this dude in Philly...I think Mason's the real deal and a nice cheap vet to back him up would work well... - Flyfreaky
This is dangerous. You should want to see another year of Mason in a back-up role before declaring him the "real deal." I watched many CBJ games and he was awful. Admittedly he played well for you guys and looked like he had found some confidence and positioning improvements. I don't think you should put all of your eggs in that basket though. |

He had a .944%? in 8 or 9 games with the flyers. He was monstrous. I think some of it had to do with the simplified defensive system and commitment to team D that lavvy started implementing towards the end of the season. I bet all of my rubles that he'll revert back to the old system next year, though. And that's why Mason will flunk. Bob flunked because of lavvy, too; and Coots demoted to the 4th line this past season... We don't have a very youth friendly coach... |

Good point. You'll recall Mason's best season was behind Hitchcock's defensive scheme. |

I have been calling for the dismissal of Laviolette for a year and a half now. Unless they change their overall team defensive game every goalie will suck. The checking and coverage on opposing teams break outs are non existent. I remember one Ottawa game and Denis Potvin commented you could drive a greyhound bus up the middle of the ice because it was so easy for the Sens to come out of their own zone with so many good options on the way. |

VOYNOV 6 years at 25 Million :
We all know he was a beast in the play offs. He also improved his defensive zone play and stopped making stupid plays on the boards as well as moving the puck quicker than he did at the beginning season. My only problem with this is that it is a bigger number than I like for cap reasons, and also it puts him in that pressure zone of having a big enough dollar amount to bring the expectations of resuming the type of play-off numbers he posted starting at the beginning of next season...
I hope he doesn't lapse, but look at Drew Doughty's play and numbers since he was saddled with that recockulously large contract. I feel like sometimes those big contracts are a goocher of sorts and a more modest contract leaves the player pressure free and hungry... but what do I know? and what does anyone know.... we just hope that the right moves will be made to work within our cap, send Penner packing, get a top six forward for Bernier and dump Dwight king and Collin Fraser so that we can bump Clifford and Lewis back to the fourth line and bring up Cheap, young and fast hungry players like Toffoli Pearson and Vey... |
