Luongo is fragile. He would be eaten alive in Pittsburgh. Fleury is less fragile than Luongo.

I hope nobody is suggesting we get Luongo. The last thing this team needs is another goalie with confidence problems to backstop Disco's "defense be damned" system. His contract "sucks" too.

That's very debatable you have watched fleury the past 3 playoffs and watched his interviews during these playoffs correct?
- Genev21

Yes. But you make it seem like Pittsburgh is an easy market. For baseball, sure. For hockey? Nope, It's not. Fleury has the right temperment to handle it. Luongo doesn't.

Exactly ... he is another goalie with confidence issues. He would get eaten alive in Pittsburgh. No one is suggesting it. Just trying to figure out where he can go and survive.

There's the problem with getting full value for Letang. It's got to be a place that he'll sign long term. Most likely the Pens will have to allow another team to talk to Letang before any deal takes place. He's going to shoot down lots of teams.
- madmike71

Yeah. I have a feeling Letang won't make it easy for us. I'm afraid he won't sign a deal right away and maybe test next year's free agency. That would be dumb IMO...but he could do it. Regardless of what we get for Letang, I feel like we can acquire another piece to our D.

No, someone suggested that if the Flyers get Luongo, they would be playoff contenders

I know Pittsburgh isn't an easy hockey market. How could it be when people are accustomed to players like Lemieux Crosby malkin and jagr. I'm just saying fleury looks and sounds like a broken man and I think if he could handle the pressure Lu could for a period of time too. I am by no way suggestion we go after Lu... unless he's bought out and costs about a mil.

I think the obvious fit is Florida, but Van will need to keep a big old chunk of his insane contract. They're going to have to eat some contract wherever he ends up. Not sure what the limitations are on how much contract a team can absorb.

No, they wouldn't be play-off contenders. He would get swallowed alive in Philly. He wouldn't last any longer than Bryz has.

Here is the problem with Vancouver. Schneider all the sudden has these anxiety issues in the play-offs. They don't have a goalie they can trust. Who is safer, Luongo or Schneider?

So.... send him to the worst possible place on earth for a tender.

I guess they could always build him a padded cell somewhere in the locker room when things go bad.

So ... Holmgren buys our Bryz, Briere ... signs Streit to an obscene amount; gets Luongo off the bone pile and then according to Ek, Holmgren is kicking the tires on Richards after he gets kicked to the curb. That would be wonderful to see.

If he is on the Canucks the day after the draft the entire organization is a joke. They could have unloaded his whole contract at the deadline and didnt pull the trigger then they were trying to give him away and couldnt. It's ridiculous how mismanaged the whole situation played out and I actually feel bad for Lu because he can still contribute to a team.

The way the B's insulate Rask is impressive. Suffocating another high powered offensive team. It looks like they're playing with 8 guys in their own end.

if that is the route he chooses to take, then he should be traded at the draft

Could they have? I think a certain GM was saying he had offers to build up to get a better return. I don't think he could have gotten rid of him at the deadline.

Letang doesn't fit the profile of a Dallas player. You must be over 35 to play there. I wouldn't be surprised to see Iggy land there.

So, you get Eriksson and that means someone like Neal or Kunitz is gone. You need a Dman back if you trade Letang.

- Oneonta Penguin

I'm of the mindset the pens need to trade Kunitz anyway. His value isn't going to be any higher in the future as he had a fantastic year...I'm 100% cool with:

Letang + Bortuzzo <-> Erikson + Dillon + 2nd rounder
Kunitz <-> DET/VAN/SJ/PHO for a high pick (1st rnd??? - Jagr/Iginla got 1st rounders, Morrow got Morrow)

Assuming of course Letang is signed. If not, yeah, sucks for everybody involved except Letang (unless he gets injured). If he's not going to take a bit of a discount to be on a winning team like PITT though, I think if DAL offered a 6-8 year deal at like $7.5-8 he may jumps on it and save the risk of being hurt during the season. DAL is a tough sell though (to Letang), I think ANA (Ryan+), VAN (Edler+), COL (1st?), STL (Shattenkirk+) are spots he would sign though...

Wow buddy... You're sounding more hilarious by the minute... I'll agree if you said Nabokov... But Lu... Omg... I've been a huge Fleury backer but he is the worst... It's laughable... Amazing physical tools, terrible mindset...

As for bringing up Lu's stats since the cup, his team has played like crap and has been thrown into the blender while being on the bench... Can't just take his low moments...

I'm guessing no one here actually watches full games with him in season and follows the team.

I think the PENS also did a huge favor for DAL in giving them a top young puck moving D (J Morrow) for B Morrow who turned out to be a fantasic 4th line guy, most of the time, for the 7-10 mins he played each night...

Vancouver is more of a hockey town than Philly in that hockey is actually the far and away dominant sport... But they are on equal ground as both teams have die hard fans.

No one can say that he can't hold up in a b c market just cause he didn't win a Stanley Cup... I'd say the rigors of Vancouver have prepped him ready for just about any suitor asking for him... Including Pittsburgh

Lu will never be in PITT with that contract. Shero + ownership despise long contracts for anybody except their young core players. If Lu is bought out, maybe they consider a 3 year deal...
