At this point id take Weiss over filppula because Weiss would likely take a better cap hit. Probably 4 million to play in his hope town. Weiss was such an integral part.of the panthers considering he was the only offensively talented player on the team. I've watched a fair bit of the panthers over
the years and he was the guy taking all the major defensive face offs and responsible for creating the momentum for the team.

He's no all star. But coming to Toronto would have a huge personal affect on him. And who knows? Maybe that'd convince Clarkson to pursue that goal. Maybe he will have an offensive break out year. He's a quality guy to have. Soft? Sure but he plays a better game than bozak. You could argue he'd be the cheaper alternative to grabs making less money providing better zone management. Its something to consider at least when you look at the free agent market and projected prices.

I honestly don't see Filpula as much of an upgrade over Grabo, and again, puts Leafs in same situation, although slightly more skilled...

Filpula, Kadri, Grabo as top 3 C's isn't enough of an upgrade or difference to improve the team.

Filpula "instead" of Grabo would work, but don't see reason for both.

All 4 guys (Filpula, Weiss, Roy, Ribeiro) would be upgrades over Bozak, but Ribeiro's arguably to old to sign long term, and the rest aren't enough of an upgrade over Bozak to make the team that much better.

Boyd Gordon, and then Clarkson or Horton would improve the team dramatically more than replacing Bozak with any of those guys (except Ribeiro).

Grabo scores more goals plays less mins/game, but more mins against tougher opposition. but yeah lets dump him because he's too expensive and lets get a guys that isn't much better statistically, but plays more mins and will command a similar cap hit to the guy you are trying to dump??

I just don't see the point in having 3 centers that are 6'0 or less, under 200lbs, and at most ONE of whom has any potential at all to be a PPG player... no matter how reasonable the price may be.
