Stay clear, I would keep Bozak over this injury riddled Weiss. Trust me I have had him for years and he kills me with down time and I really believe after last year he is going downhill fast. Would rather gambleon Derek Roy. |

I would love it for him to come in and surprise, I just don't want him to come in at $5m a year and disappoint... - lumlums
4.5 is what i'd be happy at, anything more is an overpayment |

Sometimes he looks like a star and sometimes he's completely invisible. I think hes consistently inconsistent but he does have the ability to be a very effective player when he's pushed to produce by playing with better players(Kessel,JVR). He could live up to his potential when he leaves Florida like Horton and Jovo did. - coolehmon41
I'd rather the Leafs not waste their time hoping for the unknown if they can pick up a better option... |

Weiss
08-09 ppg: 0.78 avg ice: 17.48
09-10 ppg: 0.75 avg ice: 19:59
10-11 ppg: 0.64 avg ice: 20:05
11-12 ppg: 0.71 avg ice: 20:30
so with more ice time his point totals decrease, still pretty solid, but i see filppula of having the better chance at increasing his point totals over weiss |

Not hard to do when you're a 30pt player. |

Better options cost more then just money, this is a free roll. You have a back up plan(compliance buyouts) for one more off season. Its pretty low risk. |

Of course he is, and if either Filpulla or Weiss want $5m or more, then give bozie one more year at 4m and be done with it.
As much as I want to see an upgrade at 1C over Bozak, we were 5th in league scoring last year, so that isn't the major issue that needs addressing. A minute-eating defenceman who can play his own end is much more of a priority imho |

you realize his 30 pts seasons is when he didnt play full seasons, 1 pts off of 40 pts and he missed 11 games, 5 pts off 40 pts and he missed 27 games dont focus on just the point totals, thats why i put ppg cause it shows better |

I would take Filppula over Weiss anyday, he played with an undisclosed injury all year and hopefully that will be cleared up for next year and he will return to the 60 point level. |

i doubt filppula would want 5 mil, at most he would want 4.5 but i think he will sign for 4 mil

Give him a connolly-esque contract, 2 years/$9m, and make him earn the chance to get to $5m plus afterwards. If it fails, then no major long-term hurt |

Agreed. It's kill us if we "upgrade" the #1 C position with a lateral move and ignore other issues. |
