whats the scouting report on him? - matt1337
The slick scoring centre is flying a bit under the radar after an injury kept him out of play for the majority of the USHL season. Compher has dominated every international tournament he’s played in, including both U18’s (this and last) and the U17’s for the USA. He’s a pretty speedy two-way centre who excels at face-offs and is fearless around the scoring areas. He’s got good passing and scoring abilities like most offensively gifted players, but it’s the determination to get into the slot and into the crease that sets him apart from some of the more perimeter/one-shot scoring players. At 6’0 165 he has a lot of room to grow and will need a few years of development starting with a stint at the University of Michigan. He has some pest qualities to his game as well, more in that his style of play can get into players heads and less in the yapping kind you see in others. He’s the best player coming out of the American system this year by far and without that injury to start, he might be in the 10-15 range.

That was my problem in Alberta.
Road construction off-season living off of mad money saved during on-season, EI, and Vanessa...
*wakes up at noon, has Timmies, poops, logs on HB, drives to beer store, buys 20 of Lucky, starts drinking at 2-ish*
Vanessa from work at around 7pm..."I'm on break. How's things? You drunk? You eat yet?"
Me... "Just took the first sip of my first beer... I had a donut from Timmies today"
(The latter is true)

Weiss sucks, and bozak isn't a 3rd liner. Doesn't fit the bill.
Weiss is a decent 2nd liner on a poor team who is playing 1st line.
Bozak is a mediocre 2nd liner on a poor team who is playing on the 1st line.
I want nothing to do with weiss (he's goingt o be more overpaid than bozak) and at least we know bozak fits here. - burn
You have to actually watch the talent each possesses. Weiss 66 points 2 years ago. Played with noone. Add him with Kessel he helps Kessel because he's a good playmaker. Bozak has the skills of a 3rd liner. Weiss a plamaking type. Bozak isn't good at that. He can kill faceoffs. Kessel would have even better production if he had a better center. |

um... WHAT??
Weiss's career highs are 61 pts in 08-09 and 60 pts in 09-10 - both years he played with Nathan Horton
I agree he's a "moderate" upgrade over Bozak, but not enough of one to justify the $5-6M per year it will take to sign him.

Id argue hes better than grabovski too simply because he can dominate in the dot.

He made $4.1M this year
There is not (frank)ing way he signs for $4.5M. You'd be lucky to get him to sign Grabo's contract.

I know you are talking moderate upgrade from a offensive output perspective.
But he ain't upgrade in any other department that Bozak is criticized for. |

I wouldn't mind Compher or Hartman at 21. This pick is growing on me because it represents an opportunity for us to pick up someone who may excel in their 20's. I also wouldn't mind Morin if he could replace the Aulie-esque player we're missing now. |

I like how Bruins fans will bring this one up. You guys were begging for Pogge and we stupidly said no and you guys took Rask as a consolation prize. You were dumb and lucky, we were just flat out dumb. .... |
