Pretty much.
talking about a guy that had 30g and 70 points the year before the olympics, also had 76 points the year of the olympics. It's also worth mentioning that he did do well for team canada in the world championships a couple years prior and still didn't make it.
To be honest the Mike Green of today has a better chance as he's rounded his game a lot since then. |

I cant see Coburn after how he did this past season, MDZ is unlikely as he lacks the PP QBing skills likely expected out of him, Burns may be a forward, Staal may still be feeling the effects of his eye injury, and Giordano is a stretch. Amazingly, I have no problem with Phaneuf being there. That having been said, theres a high likelihood that Schultz struggles next year. Its really common for second Dmen to do so. There may be enough team improvement to offset such a scenario, but we shouldnt be surprised if it happens.
The way I see it, Team Canada looks like this (assuming appropriate breakouts, regressions, resurgences, growth, and maintaing of play):
Hall/Duchene- Crosby- Stamkos
E. Kane*- Tavares- Giroux
E. Staal/Nash- Toews- Bergeron
Duchene/Hall- Getzlaf- Perry
Nash/E. Staal- J. Staal- Eberle**
Weber- Campbell
Peitrangelo- Keith
Subban- Hamhuis
Doughty/Letang/Green- Seabrook- Bouwmeester
Dubnyk/Crawford/Ward/Price/Luongo/Other***
* He has speed, shoots a (frank) tonne, and brings some physicality
** Eberle makes it due to international resume
*** Ward plays behind positionally awful D, Price makes it by popularity, and whichever is performing better; slight edge to Dubnyk over Crawford due to international experience - MaximumBone
No way in hell Campbell is on the first line, while Letang is considered an extra, fringe guy. Seabrook will most likely be playing with Keith. And Doughty gets in there WAY before Hamhuis. Weber, Pietrangelo, Keith, are givens though. And if you’re going to list Dubnyk in there as a possibility, Reimer easily gets included too. Dubnyk has been pretty good. Reimer has been better. |

It'll be interesting to see how much stock they put into the bigger ice. A guy like Jbo who has been underrated a lot because of his contract could actually excel on that big ice. He's one of the best skating d-men in the league. |

Why it's the truth. The other thing he'll potentially have is being Piterangelo's partner. |

Sucks defensively they aren't going to give a spot to someone who can't play defense unless they are elite offensively. Right now he's mainly a PP guy. - Lahey
This is the thing going against him , there are enough guys on that list that can qb a pp and play good defensively that I just don't see why he is warranted an invite |

It's a fair point but I don't think they'll put enough stock in big ice surface, and established partner, to overlook just how much better the other options are. |

Carter
Richards
Benn
St.Louis
Kunitz
Neal
I'd say 3 of those will be there
Crosby, Tavares , toews, getzlaef are locks
Bergeron probably is too , stamkos and perry too
That leaves 6 spots for the rest to battle out |

yeah, probably not Jordan Staal. Richards or Carter in that spot. Probably not Duchene at all, let alone first line, at this rate. |

Looking at the roster that win gold i can only see two guys not there , iggy and morrow ...couple others might not make it but it will be tough for anyone who wasn't there in 2010 to make it .... and stamkos Tavares are going to be on that team too so don't expect the giroux, eberle , hall, Kane there unless they have unbelievable years |

Kane is very doubtful actually. I love the kid, but it's the olympics, not the NHL. Not many points for being tough as nails.
But some of those others, I don't know you can count them out. |

Doughty and letang ahead of campbell and hamhuis without a doubt.
Dubnyk wasnt even starter over smith in wc's. devans probably 5th at best
Price, ward, smith
Nash over kane
Benn's on the team
I love duchenes skating and ebs clutch canada, but i think both are a stretch. Maybe 1 as the 13th guy |
