They'll take MacKinnon - laughs2907
COL'll take Mackinnon. FLA'll take Jones. Possibly making one of Kulikov or Gudbranson available! |

don't see how that's at all laughable considering I started it with "no way he makes it".
Glad to see you weren't being ignorant. That'd be unlike flames fans - TheNugeIsHuge
I'm not ignorant, I'm realistic ... There are more then enough guys ahead of him to get an invite. |

He'll be a decent 2 or good 3. Only knock on him is that he's RH. Keep in mind D men hit their prime at around 25 not 21. Also he was injured until mid january. - TheNugeIsHuge
He really hasn't shown anything yet though. There's the chance he turns it around, but so far he hasn't been able to produce offense or be able to do better than maybe break even defensively. |

We could acquire statsny by sending hemsky+ and then acquire kulikov by sending gagner and a pick.
We then draft one of Monahan or nurse and let them develop. But I would still do what I can to grab barkov by overpaying with picks or prospects. |

He might not make the team but he will be invited. Canada has a long list of strong dmen. Schultz will be looked at for his PP ability. I am not putting money on him making the team. I will put money on him being invited to try out though. - bsteinley
why is he getting an invite? Thre are dozens of better and more qualified d men |

1) Lowe probably has his hands in Hockey Canada pulling a string or two
2) Hockey Canada has recently called him up to play in the World Championships so he does have some Int'l experience.
3) Bigger ice surface, so fast and offensive defenseman will be needed
So there's some reasons. I don't know if he'll get an invite but there's a chance he does. It is just an invite. |

Well maybe I can believe he gets an Invite based on Lowe but theres been many d men go play for Canada at the WHC , doesn't mean anything |

Just saying, it would a contributing factor considering he went just this year, and they could invite minimum 15 D to camp. |

7th highest scoring Canadian D man this year as a rookie on a sh*t team. That's laughable that he'd even get an invite |

I'm gonna guess that then 37.5YO boyle and then 35YO Campbell coming off a year just worse than rookie J Schultz's, won't be getting invites |

Don't get me wrong it helps a lot , but I think all the d men I listed can offer more to help Canada win gold thus why they would get invited ahead of him |

Brayden coburn - Redmile247
I cant see Coburn after how he did this past season, MDZ is unlikely as he lacks the PP QBing skills likely expected out of him, Burns may be a forward, Staal may still be feeling the effects of his eye injury, and Giordano is a stretch. Amazingly, I have no problem with Phaneuf being there. That having been said, theres a high likelihood that Schultz struggles next year. Its really common for second Dmen to do so. There may be enough team improvement to offset such a scenario, but we shouldnt be surprised if it happens.
The way I see it, Team Canada looks like this (assuming appropriate breakouts, regressions, resurgences, growth, and maintaing of play):
Hall/Duchene- Crosby- Stamkos
E. Kane*- Tavares- Giroux
E. Staal/Nash- Toews- Bergeron
Duchene/Hall- Getzlaf- Perry
Nash/E. Staal- J. Staal- Eberle**
Weber- Campbell
Peitrangelo- Keith
Subban- Hamhuis
Doughty/Letang/Green- Seabrook- Bouwmeester
Dubnyk/Crawford/Ward/Price/Luongo/Other***
* He has speed, shoots a (frank) tonne, and brings some physicality
** Eberle makes it due to international resume
*** Ward plays behind positionally awful D, Price makes it by popularity, and whichever is performing better; slight edge to Dubnyk over Crawford due to international experience |

wow Sakic says they won't take Jones. That's retarded. But, say FLA takes Jones, does that make one of Gudbranson or Kulikov available - TheNugeIsHuge
Soon as Roy was hired he started with the hints of not taking Jones. |

Sucks defensively they aren't going to give a spot to someone who can't play defense unless they are elite offensively. Right now he's mainly a PP guy. |
