Won't discount it, but to think the light is already at the end of the tunnel doesn't seem right to me.

If this does turn out to be 2003 and you get Michalek, Kesler and Perry then things will jump ahead a lot. Although even then it took those guys min 3 years to make the big impact.

I also changed Pouilot from Kesler, but still the point is valid in that it's still a process even with the best drafting.

I said: "but I do see a little bit of a light at the end of the tunnel".

I know where the Flames are right now and it's not very pretty, but I see progress at least. Gone are the prospect-less days of the Sutter era.

Oh yeah! We're just preaching caution. The situation in CGY right reminds me all too much of the Oilers circa-2006-07. When I said this last season, I got a response of " " and "Kipprusoff". Heres hoping they can avoid what weve gone through!
- MaximumBone

I agree, caution all the way. It's just fun for us Flames fans to finally have a few players in the system that might make an impact down the road.

Not at 6. He's a great prospect and has the makings of a REAL solid NHLer, but I dont think he's on same level as these other guys. What Lindholm did in the SEL is really being overshadowed by the remarkable season Barkov had in the lesser (albeit only slightly so) SM-Liiga. Consider last season's most impressive Euro (Forsberg) came from equally an dominant Leksand team in the league below the SEL (Allsvenskan) with a stat line of 8G 9A in 43GP. He (Forsberg) was garnering a good deal of top-3 votes (with only 2" on Lindholm) and is now set to play full time in an NHL top-9. What does that tell YOU?
- MaximumBone

i see what your saying comparing his current experience compared to barkov and nurse. picking at 7th, lindhom and nurse will probably still be available for the picking.

wow. we aren't watching the same thing at all.

and I mean as much of Schultz weak, medicore play as I mean to pump ference's tires.

Schultz has nothing redeeming about last seasons campaign. nothing

- hugefemale dog77

I guess not because I thought Schultz did a decent enough job last year.

Its not debatable at all. Justin Schultz is by far a better d man and he might not be our best yet. Any scout in the league would take Schultz over Wideman.

Lets put it this way. When the Olympic tryouts come you will Justin at them. You won't see Wideman.

Is Justin going to watch or something ?

calling for anyone to be at Olympic tryouts 5 years from now is getting ahead of themselves. I don't care if it's Drew Doughty, PK Subban, or whoever else.

don't see how that's at all laughable considering I started it with "no way he makes it".

Glad to see you weren't being ignorant. That'd be unlike flames fans

wow Sakic says they won't take Jones. That's retarded. But, say FLA takes Jones, does that make one of Gudbranson or Kulikov available

He might not make the team but he will be invited. Canada has a long list of strong dmen. Schultz will be looked at for his PP ability. I am not putting money on him making the team. I will put money on him being invited to try out though.

Gudbranson really hasn't progressed at all. I don't think I would touch him unless he comes cheap, which is unlikely.

He'll be a decent 2 or good 3. Only knock on him is that he's RH. Keep in mind D men hit their prime at around 25 not 21. Also he was injured until mid january.
