Flames are the best team in the league now that they have Knight!!!

Anyways, I actually just came here to chirp Clouthier. If you listened to Feasters presser from the other day you would realize pretty much everything you said this blog is BS.

And BTW, rip the Wideman signing all you want Richard but he would be the Oilers best d-man and they could really use him

Scrivens would be a good backup and could probably be had for cheap with them wanting to get a vet play behind Reimer. I'd prefer Comrie to Jarry and I think Fucale will be gone by our 37th pick
- Ihatebrianburke

I still wish they would make a trade so we could get an earlier second than 37th. That way we're guaranteed to get something out of it.

Well I'm definitely not one to defend Cloutier...as I can't stand his blogs. But he has been saying, as have a lot of Oiler fans, that sooner or later the Flames would realize that the Flames need a rebuild and not trade picks for over rated vets. He compared the Flames to the Oilers of 2008-2010. Trying to take short cuts. So far it looks like we were right and Feaster admitted that they can't take short cuts anymore and need to build through the prospect system.

I know. Haha they'd do it too. They need immediate help and can withstand a bad contract. I'd be pretty satisfied with that deal.

I'd just prefer getting a vet to help out instead of a pick. Unless of course we get a pick add it to our 2nd and get a late 1st to get someone that fell in the first.

I get that....but it has been a while since the Flames traded picks for over-rated vets. Feaster has done a fairly nice job of stockpiling assets for the future thus far. Perhaps the only moves which you could argue are the signings last off season which you could point to as moves that were failed attempts to patch the team and make the playoffs. That being said, neither the Wideman nor the Hudler signings will negatively affect the Flames going forward IMO.

In that scenario I'd like to grab Shea Theodore. Maybe take Chicago's pick or something. Or whoever's available at that time.

I'm all for an offer sheet. Even multiple offer sheets till someone doesn't match. I don't want us even thinking about drafting in the 1st round next year. I'm just very much against doing it for a player that has only played half a year in the league(Jake Muzzin). I don't want this team to suck again this year and giving up picks in next years draft gives us some incentive to ice a good team and ensure we're not giving up a Tyler Seguin and Dougie Hamilton situation. I'd even consider throwing an offer sheet Cal Clutterbuck's way and hope Minnesota doesn't match. Him and Hall would have to shnoodle and make up but we could really use a banger like that and would probably only give up 2nd rounder doing so.
- Ihatebrianburke

Okay Muzzin wasn't the best example of the people I gave but Voynov would be worth it. I think Rask or Tanev should be the target. Boston might be screwed if rask gets 6.7 mil for 8 years. They will have to match but that could free up other players. Tanev is a great dman. I think Vancouver fans will agree he is an up and coming dman. At 3.3 mill, a second round pick, Van would be hard pressed to meet that. Worst case scenario, we get too many dmen and trade some off.

I am not against making an offer for stewart. He would be a nice young addition to our top 6. We might have to give up a 1 and 3 and pay him 5 mil but we would be able to send two strong lines out. Plus he adds size. He would be a good pair for RNH and Eberle. I like the idea of Hall and Yak sticking together. They seemed to have each others numbers last year. Gagner in the middle as he hits a little and RNH doesn't hit at all.

Don't bother. I got into this argument the other day. I wouldn't do Ference either. He's top 4 in Boston right now due to injuries but normally is a 5-6 guy.

EDM'll be screwed if Rask is signed for 6.7M. 2 first round picks, a 2nd, and a 3rd. Not to mention the 5 players that'll be getting paid 6M each.

Hall-6M
Ebs-6M
RNH-6M
Yak-6M
Schultz-6M
Rask 6.7M

36.7M tied up in 6 players? Around 20M for like 16 other players? Ridiculous
