Crawford? - yakattack
is he canadian? Well I'd add him to the list. I don't know if/think he can repeat this year's performance. He was brutal in 2012. Maybe though. CDN goaltending will be a cluster(frank) |

Philly? - mbxiphos1527
While Mochoson says it's not true, there were numerous reports that Talbot was available and shortly after Spec mentioned we were in on him.
I'd also look at Boston. One of Peverley or Kelly should be dealt this summer. |

Hainsey is really underrated now. Problem is I don't like where his contract is going to end up. Especially after Streit getting 4 years 22mil. - Lahey
Hainsey is ok but I too think he's going to get a really inflated contract. Also I think we need someone that plays a more physical game than him. If we could get him for 3-3.5 I say do it but I don't think that's going to happen |

ya, he's Canadian, I agree with ya though, the Americans have the better goalies for sure. |

I honestly don't know what to make of our d situation. Belov is suppose to get a shot, the talk about Ranger is like he is some sort of Steve Staios 2.0.
I'm just curious if they are loading up with depth or if there is a plan to get some players that are better than what we already have. |

I wouldn't mind Talbot coming here. Coburn might be another player that could help us on D, even though he's way too overpaid.
Philly's just a disaster right now as far as the cap goes. |

It is true, the second Homer was asked about said move and Talbots ability he shot it down and said he's not going anywhere. |

Of course. How many GM's say so and so is on the trade block during the year?
I also expect him to say Ilya is a starting goaltender for years to come. |

Finished 4th in rookie apple picker of the year voting. - robin_steele264
I think he should have been nominated at least. He tied for the most apples picked, and had the highest apples to basket conversion rate. I'd like to get to the core of this... I don't know what those in charge were thinking. I guess one bad apple spoils the bunch. |

I don't understand why people keep on saying that we need improvement on defense. Yeah, it's not the best, I know. But at least we don't have holes in our defensive pairings like we do with our forwards. If you (realistically) look at who we have left for forwards after all the obvious players are sent to waivers, bought out, or dealt off, then you'll know what I'm talking about. It's a scary situation. If we don't do anything to improve our forwards then we litterally won't have a team come next season.
I'll help you out.
Hall RNH Eberle
N/A Gagner Yakupov
Paajarvi N/A N/A
N/A N/A N/A
That's what we're looking at for forwards right now lol. Pretty sad. - mbxiphos1527
we keep saying it, cause its our weakest position and biggest reason we're such a mediocre team. even more so than the further maturation of our core kids.
just cause we happen to have enough bodies to fill all the spots (unlike the forwards) doesn't mean its decent. we could fill our empty forward spots with no name Russians from the khl, or rookies, or players that are borderline nhl as well if we so chose and we would probably consider it worse.
we have no minute eater, no depth and not enough quality players on our backend to be a competitive team.
and another thing; why do I keep seeing an empty spot on the 4th line wing? brown is signed thru next year. why would we even consider demoting him at this point? he was one of our only effective bottom 6'ers last year. low talent, but solid checker, the odd scrap and high energy. he'll be in our starting 12 imo |

Finland's got Rask/Rinne, Sweden's got Lundqvist, Russia's got Bobrovsky, US has got Quick/Schneider/Anderson |

step 1 is to attempt to find a deal for a top 4 guy with our 7th overall+ going the other way.
2. sign a ference or scuderi type if possible.
I don't know if either is possible, but if it is and we were able to acquire a two way top 4 guy and a solid dependable 3rd pairing guy, we're a much better team instantly. |

Jesus Christ. Canadian goaltending has hit the sh*tter. Who's gonna play in Sochi? Luongo, Reimer, Dubey, Ward, Smith, Price all not great. The US has Schneider, Howard, Quick, and Anderson - TheNugeIsHuge
In terms of goaltending, Canada will have one of the worst in the tournament.

I don't think Rinne is top 5 either. I see him as a good goalie with great stats because of Barry Trotz's defensive system - Ihatebrianburke
Rinne is top 2 right now.

Scuderi is available this summer if I'm not mistaken. I haven't a clue as to who we could pick up in exchange for our 7th overall. We'd obviously want someone with experience.
But the beauty of it all is that we have loads of cap space. We can pretty much afford anyone we want. |

scuderi and ference both are. but not sure if either wants to sign here. ference is a Sherwood park boy though. so its possible.
myers cold be a target. now is the time with him. or never. buffalo considering rebuild, he's had a few mediocre seasons and signed long term to quite a few dollars.
if he had a another mediocre year next, we wouldn't want his contract. if he killed it and filled his massive potential, they wouldn't deal him.
theres a few others that are possible too imo. |

No. He went out of his way to say he's not available. He didnt just say "were not looking to move him at this time", he literally said "he is not available,
were not trying to move him and were not interested in offers for him at this time" |
