I was away doing family poop this weekend but went to http://oilersnation.com/2...13-14-questions-for-13-14 and found the proposal with CBJ rather interesting... how many would do it??? I have my doubts but it is interesting...

Overall thats quite the change Lowetide has written...

- saskoil21

Interesting for sure. It'd definatly fill some holes in our roster. And on top of that, if we can get Knight to sign here then that'd be even better. We have our third or fourth line centre right there. Instead of Umberger, I wouldn't even mind if Dubinsky came here.

If this happens the lines could look like this:

Hall RNH Yakupov

Paajarvi Johansen Eberle

? Dubinsky ?

? Knight ?

Obviously there's a few other spots needed to be filled but at least we aren't running around to find centermen.

I get a kick out of people who think the Oilers were rebuilding for the last 7 years.

2006-2007 - 12th
2007-2008 - 9th
2008-2009 - 11 th
2009-2010 - 15th
2010-2011 - 15th
2011-2012 - 14th
2012-2013 - 12th

by these stats, looks like we were playing "Calgary Flames" hockey from 2007-2009 all the while trying to sign UFA's...we're going into year 5 of the "rebuild"..

- yakattack

We certainly were. It wasn't the rebuild but it was "the denial."

It was a valiant effort and I can't really fault them for going for 3/4 years after the run.

Yes... not sure but does MPS get a free ticket right up to the 2nd line- ?? I guess if he has gained about 10 more lbs this offseason and 20% more nastiness than he had before... LOL...

Hall and Yaks might be too much speed for Nuge... Esp coming off an injury- it may require Ebs to move back up to top line and slow down the north south game a tad... - then again who knows... I hope the (frank) Eakins can instill a game plan/system that the team actually follows!!!!!!

I hope not - we saw somethin nice from him this year but to my mind he's still a 2nd line tweener and frankly ripe for a package outta town.

I do like him, and think he may always be that tweener, which is fine.
I think he will still have pretty good career in this respect. If he does remain an Oiler, and connects with Eakins he could be an excellent seven or eight type guy in the coming years.

Haha true enough. He's got the height, just not the muscle. The good thing about that trade with Umberger included is that he could possibly fit into that 2nd line position. But then you don't have Dubinsky for the third line. Which wouldn't be a bad thing if Knight signed here and then he could play centre on the third line.
I'd like to Bryan Bickell or Nathan Horton come here as well. But that's just such a washed up topic that it's not even worth bringing up anymore.

Exactly. You'd think he'd be fast due to his size, but yeah I hear you.

And I'm sure Eakins has something in mind. He better have anyway..

We'd have to see what could get for him though. I'm not sure as to what teams are willing to give up for him.

Goaltending is not a top priority, why trade one of our best assets for it?

Really? Why? Cam Ward is like MA Fleury, he has had one incredible playoff run, and one great year. You’re better off with what you have, at a fraction of the price.

Ward is arguably a top 5 goalie in the league. I would do it in a heartbeat. Then move dubie.
