I really doubt you see Carcillo out there. Has it been reported somewhere? All I heard was something on the radio that he was not at one of the practices last week.

He has been practicing with the team this week I know. But no not heard anything about him. I like him better than Bollig, because I think he's a better hockey player, but Bollig seems to be much smarter.

Thank you. That is what I heard. Perhaps he was one of the no shows at the optional practice?

Even so, playing him would still be a reach. When did he play last, round 1 or the RS?

I see nothing crazy about wanting Carbomb out there. Hell, there are folks out there clamoring for Ben Smith.

This is why I love Chicago and our sports fans...our favorite player is always the guy who is not playing.

OK...list of worst excuses for the loss last night

1-Stalberg didn't play
2-Refs cheated
3-Blackhawks were tired

Holy cow.

I think we lost because we stopped skating. Our D literally would stop with the puck constantly looking for stretch passes with 15 ft of open ice in front of them. Lots of icings last night. We were not doing that in the first period. We also weren't turning the puck over. But we have to have our d making quick short passes and skating it up.

If he can keep a lid on things I'd prefer him over Bollig and Stalberg. Trouble is in an emotional series can he be trusted?

We were not doing that in the first period, because the Boston forecheck hadn't caught up to us.

Just as you say the Hawks stopped skating, the Bs say they started skating.

Which is it? Also, you don't stop skating for 2+ entire periods. Yes, you have lulls in a hockey game where the other team has all the momentum, but Boston slowly took control of that game and never relinquished momentum and basically controlled play for 2+ periods. That worries me that they've figured out how they need to handle the Hawks.

Bottom line is Monday will give me more details on just how this matchup is going to go. The physical element was our supposed weakness...have the Hawks finally met a team who can take advantage? We've been barking about this all year, lack of physicality...not necessarily guys that go out and knock guys through the glass, but players who can play and adapt to a physical style and maintain competence and skill. Too many of our players play poorly when the style of play reaches a certain level of physicality. That's what worries me, but I am also not sure, because the Hawks have navigated guys pushing hard all year.

Why not ? Stalberg's been fairly invisible when he's been in...otherwise...he'd still be in.

It was both...Boston wasn't moving well in the opening period and the Hawks were dialed on ultra high. Pretty much the opposite for the rest of the game.

Boston had a ton of hits in the 1st mainly because they chased the puck for 15 mins +....But that's the tradeoff, I wrote it today.

You keep the puck and you are going to get hit and Boston does it better than anyone.

Oh I am not opposed. Carbomb also brings some energy out there that could feed off to the other guys.

Q is the coach...lets see how he handles this. He has made some great moves in the past, even back in 2010 when he split players among our top two lines so Pronger couldn't play against them both and some moves in the playoffs so far.

There is a lot about Q I am not a fan of, but given he HAS made some great moves I will let this series play out...perhaps he has another trick in his bag and perhaps it's Carcillo who can ignite some fire with our team.

Q looked his usual PISSED self (after a loss) in the post game comments. I love when he's pissed...because improvement is usually right around the corner. Hoping for a solid-perfect road game tomorrow night.

Yep...that's why I am waiting to see what he comes up with.

If Q can find a way to win 3 more games he goes down as a legendary coach in Chicago...I am talking only George Halas and Phil Jackson ahead of him. Think about that a moment?

He's THAT close to greatness in the great city....GET IT DONE Q....pull some magic beans out the stache.

Or Boston could be celebrating........

I would be thrilled if they get a split in Boston preferably game 3 so we don't have to sweat a game 4 down 2-1

- jhawk159

This -

I think the Hawks need to come out in game 3 and play a simple road game. God forbid they actually get the PP working. Don't want to count on winning the 4th game, but a split is definitely necessary or its over.

Going to be antsy until we drop the puck in Bahsten tomorrow night.

I think we have our advantages and they have theirs. You make it sound like we are screwed and they now have our number. We still have our edges and they have theirs. I do think the first period showed ours. We do need something from 88 and 19 before this is done however. I think we get one of these next two.

LMAO. This is delusion. You better hope the Bruins aren't coming back to Chicago with a chance to clinch. THEY are THAT good. Have you not watched the Bruins play? Speed nearly on par with the Hawks, one line the Hawks have ZERO answer for, a 2nd line Jullian has stumbled on that may be trouble, defensemen who not only don't wilt when they get hit, they actually LIKE IT. and a stud goalie to back all that up.

The arrogance of many Hawks fans is ridiculous considering how worthy the opponent is.

My goal and hope is to grab 1 in Boston...make it a best of 3 and see what happens. But talk of wrapping up Boston in five is utterly absurd.

- kwolf68

I'm not sure I would say its absurd but its certainly unlikely. The first 2 games have shown that the teams are evenly matched even though they are built differently. Our goal clearly is to get a split and make this a best of 3 with the good guys getting home ice.

I thought I read last week that Carcillo missed a practice or two because he was sick. That might be why we've seen Bollig the first two games instead.

It would be great for Q to add to the Chicago Mount Rushmore of great coaches.
Would love to get a W in G3 and regain home ice advantage.

What is our edge? Team speed? Haven't seen it so far. Because well...Boston is pretty damn fast too. Defense? Hell and I mean hell no. Faceoffs? No. PowerPlay? LMAO. PK? Good as we are...no.

All our strengths are matched by them also being strong there. The one strength they have over us is the physical element. Its always been there...that's their decided advantage.

Also, I did NOT say we are screwed...my post only brings up the question and said myself how we respond/react Monday will tell us a lot about that supposed strong edge that Boston enjoys in the physicality department.

True Al...the Hawks' DEFLATED BADLY after the Kelly goal. And it showed for the rest of the game.
- philco28

Its funny how things are sometimes. The Hawks dominated the B's probably more than any opponent in a given period all season, or at least so far in these playoffs. Unfortunately, they only got rewarded with 1 goal. Often, that type of scenario can work against you, and it seemed to do so against the Hawks. If that call is reversed and the Hawks go into the 1st intermission up 2-0, they almost surely win the game. Too bad, because it probably should have been a goal.....

Hawks have to go into Boston now and know that surviving the first 10 minutes or so (possibly the entire first period) tommorow night will be key. If the Bruins know they'll be in tough starting the middle frame, the pressure will be more on them and the Hawks might be able to break through. But if the Hawks fall behind early it could be real tough.
