Yeah, if that trade happened, then the Avs would be well positioned for the next 10 yrs. I was thinking if they got Carolina's 5, and then, packaged 6 and 5 and 22 for 1, that might work. Understand the bad blood though- Feaster f'd himself. Otherwise, it was actually a half-decent proposal.
I was happy it didn't happen. And I don't see the Avs trading with Calgary as long as Feaster is there. - FLflames34
If cgy got carolina's 5th they should stick with that. drafting Nish and then monahan is pretty decent.
Not sure why CGY is focussing on COL though, wouldn't they want Floridas pick more? Since COL could take Jones. Send over Hudler and some picks/ |

Regardless of when the season ends, other than a player or two's negotiating rights (that the Sabres never were or should have been in on anyway), we are not going to see any major movement from anybody until right around draft day. |

same people were royally pissed that brennan was even getting icetime because "he has no business in the NHL"
his value improved 10 fold as soon as he was no longer on the sabres, apparenlty |

He was moved, and then increased his point totals on a worse team who didn't improve even after he was acquired. He is a non-issue. |

Bottom line we spent 5 years developing him. Gave him 10 games and that was it.
Same with guys like Paille, develope them for 4-5 years, they don't become stars so we just get rid of them. This is why the bottom half of our roster has
Gerbe
Porter
Scott
Ellis
Hect
The Sabres issue this season wasn't related to the scoring or lack of from the top line, it was from the bottom 6 guys. |

Are problem was team defense... If I remember correctly most goals were scored on us when are top two lines were out there.... |

Team defense
Scoring depth.
Nathan Gerbe playing top 6 minutes gets your team nowhere.
Steve Ott playing first line minutes gets you nowhere.
Drew Stafford on your team gets you nowhere.

Paille was over touted, I thought he was a solid player but they were trying to make him e a top line player. I don't think it is giving up on a guy like him it is over valuing and not recognizing his true ability.. With TJ he was being used properly as a #6/7 dman.. but the cupboard was full and Pysyk and others were better, they moved on and got a draft pick.. |

I hate that it seems paille leaves gets used properly now everyone whines over the trade.
Lets be honest if he was on our team with Seguin hed do well. But here we wanted him to be top 6 |

the problem last season was, that was all they had. The team sucked and didn't have any depth. Gerbe should not be in the NHL, Staff is fine as a 3rd liner if he made less.. |

Porter is probably going to be buffalos best bottom 6 player in a long time. hecht was good. scott is irellevant to this. Gerbe is exactly what you described, someone they gave all the time in the world to develop and he didnt turn out.
ellis the only one that really fits this point.
defensively, on a team full of people who are shoddy defensively, do you really want brennan being on the team over pardy, mcnabb, etc..?
anyone who complains about brennan being traded is just looking for something to complain about |

oh but he scores a couple of goals when he team loses and all of a sudden we lost the trade big time. He played to a 6/7 and thats how he was used. Times up for him bring in the kids to showcase their skills and talent |

Brennan might turn out to be nothing. Probably will be out of the league on 2 years. But after 5 years of development, why do you not let him play the rest of the season? |
