If Carolina is going D then I think there is definitely a potential trade to be had. They could trade back to our spot and still have a 50/50 shot at Nurse and they would be 100% to get Ristolainen if Nurse was gone. At #5 we are guaranteed to get 1 of Drouin, Barkov, or Nichuskin.

it would take more than the 16th and a 2nd to get Lou to think about trading the pick, especially since its in newark and wants to make an impact with the draft and make sure the fans are happy, the devils are pretty high on wedgewood and kinkaid they wont be drafting a goalie in the first round

Shainkaruk is a good player, but what will hurt his stock in Buffalos mind is Regiers mandate on "size with skill". He wants the 6' 200lbs guys. I love the Nischukin pick for that very reason. Hes the epitome of what Regier wants, minus the questionable work ethic. I think if he and Monahan are on the board, they take Monahan.

As for 16, I agree with you that Shinkaruk would be gone. If im staying put I put a lot of thought in the following:
