I'm pretty sure that I read last week that Columbus was negotiating with Bob as if he was going to win the Vezina so I think Columbus will get it done. In the end Columbus will have a young Vezina winner locked up for less years and less money than Bryz. I hope Bob continues his solid play and proves worthy of the contract.

I'd still be leery giving him a ton of money even with this award with a limited body of work.

I was going to give my opinion on the Flyers moves they make this Summer. But I'm going to wait a few years and give it in hindsight. Much better chance of being right that way.

I have been a fan of the flyers starting 6/15/1970 ..... the day I was born....43 years ago....yes I am older than most on the site....but I did not have a choice....my Dad had season tixs at the old Spectrum that we would attend. When cable became available in the NE Philly(trevose/oakford/feasterville...to be more spec.) and you could watch games on Prism and not have to fight the traffic and crowds my Dad gave up the seats. So I have always been a fan, never had a reason to choose another team, and I would never change who I root for.....We don't always have the best team but its not for a lack of trying...could we be more patient or have a different team make-up sure.....but the would take away from the character and essence of what it is to be a flyer or even a flyer fan.....good or bad I will always be a Flyer Fan and for some on this site who like to moan and female dog about your flyers probably feel the same as I do.....we will win again and will make this cup drought all the more sweeter.....hate them or love them..from Snider on down... We are Flyer Fans for Life and I'm proud of my Team....btw happy B-day to Me......

Watch Joacim Eriksson become a solid starting goalie and haunt us for years

It would not be shocking to us flyers fans.

Certainly understandable. It's a risk but I think it will work out. Bob's in a much better environment than he was earlier in his career. He has the support of his coach and franchise for the first time.

Regardless of the ongoing fiasco that is our goaltending situation, I am very happy for Bob to win the Vezina. I wish him continued success in Columbus, would be a shame if he bolted for the K. He can't be faulted for his exit from Philly, and what we went with over him.

I hope that with Mason, perhaps we can find a Vezina winner from a castaway as well. He has the size and skill, hopefully he continues his sample size success this coming season with us.

I'm all for acquiring Bernier to go 1A-1B with Mason, if we buy out Bryz. I would rather not part with Read, his probable production for this coming year at 900k alone is worth keeping him. Once we get Giroux signed for 8 years, I hope Homer tries to lock up Read for 4-5 years at a reasonable cap hit.

Eriksson will be next year's Calder-, Vezina-, Hart-, Conn Smythe-, and Stanley Cup-winning goalie.

So instead of Read would anyone be in favor of sending Simmer back to LA for Bernier?

Can you at least propose terrible trade offers that would probably even be rejected in a video game?

How are we to rationally judge the performance of a GM if we don't analyze the moves in hindsight? Isn't the GMs job (and what makes the job hard) to have the foresight to know that the moves will work out or not? How isn't it fair to go back and see how things panned out and base job performance on that?

The whole point is how fair is it to criticize Holmgren for trading for Pronger because he got hurt? And judging a move based on the team results, isn't looking at it the right way. Such as they didn't win the Cup, so trading for Pronger was a failure. Bottom line is, did the move make the team better?

But that is Homers MO. Sign a long extension and trade them the next season.

No it's not his MO. He's signed a lot of players to extensions and not traded them the next Season.

Oh and also pick only 1 draft prospect to fall in love with and then be really upset if/when they don't select him.

That last sentence is very vague. Who could argue that at the time of the trade, the flyers didn't immediately get better?

Pretty much the same as some of the top rankings but I also have some that maybe outside of it that I wouldn't mind either.

Give me some sleeper names I should look out for when I watch the first round. Certainly not a lot of people had Laughton going ahead of Maata and now a year later seemingly a better prospect.

My personal opinion of the Pronger deal then and now hasn't changed, in that it was the right move. I agree the injury thing has nothing to do with the merits of the deal. They got him and the next season were 2 wins away from the cup... the closest they'd been in 20+ years.

But I guess that's where we may differ... I think judging whether the team is "better" or not requires hindsight. It doesn't matter if they're better on paper the day a deal is made. Are they better in reality. That requires games to be played to be measured.
