I have been a fan of the flyers starting 6/15/1970 ..... the day I was born....43 years ago....yes I am older than most on the site....but I did not have a choice....my Dad had season tixs at the old Spectrum that we would attend. When cable became available in the NE Philly(trevose/oakford/feasterville...to be more spec.) and you could watch games on Prism and not have to fight the traffic and crowds my Dad gave up the seats. So I have always been a fan, never had a reason to choose another team, and I would never change who I root for.....We don't always have the best team but its not for a lack of trying...could we be more patient or have a different team make-up sure.....but the would take away from the character and essence of what it is to be a flyer or even a flyer fan.....good or bad I will always be a Flyer Fan and for some on this site who like to moan and female dog about your flyers probably feel the same as I do.....we will win again and will make this cup drought all the more sweeter.....hate them or love them..from Snider on down... We are Flyer Fans for Life and I'm proud of my Team....btw happy B-day to Me......

happy birthday

i watched my first flyer game on TV just a few mos earlier when i was 10. we were playing street hockey w/ regular sticks and a dead tennis ball...the they came out w/ the mylec blades and the black puck that used to wear down to a coaster. got hit w/ that thing and the hockey ball near my eye enuf times. those were the days

like you, the flyers will always be my team. i just think we deserve the best and i don't think homer's been at his since the pronger trade. i think this off season should determine whether we move forward w/ him...and lavi for that matter.

I loved the trade when the made it. And I still love that they made that trade. Easy to play GM after the fact.

I liked the trade. A little more than lukewarm I guess. My friend was adamant against saying Pronger was too old, too many miles, etc. guess he was right.

Oh well the hockey must go on

But he wasn't though. Pronger's injury was so flukey.

He was tremendous

Actually, he wasn't right. Pronger not playing anymore, is not due to his age. Players are playing at a high level well into their upper 30's all over the League. And if Pronger didn't take a stick to the eye, he likely would be also. Adding Pronger was a game changer. It was the absolute right move.

I'm sure Homer would consider trading Couturier for him in a package to LA. Don't know why LA would let the kid go but for the right price and the right package anything can happen. Plus, Doughty, Carter, Richards, Kopi, Quick don't come cheap either with the cap coming down next year. A guy can dream...

A pipe dream, but he'd be a great fit here, I think. Kid's real solid.

Eriksson let his agent make the decision. Was just a business decision.

Just have to draft another goalie for the system is all.

I have to admit, and went on record to say, I was very opposed to the Pronger trade.

Not that I didn't want Pronger, I understood the trade, I just thought we gave up too much and gave him too long of a deal. As it turned out, making matters worse for me, Homer dropped the ball on that believing he offered an under 35 contract.

I wonder if Pronger had this injury at 25 yoa. Would the recovery be the same?

I think it's a little steep to suggest the collective wear and tear, previous concussions he possibly sustained in his career, has no effect or makes no difference in his recovery

He was acquired to help us win the cup. It's a failed trade. But I don't fault the logic

Pretty sure they'll make that a question in any pre-draft interviews they have with prospects

As far as the 35+ deal is concerned. A question need to be answered. If Holmgren knew that extending him would be a 35+ deal, would that have stopped him from making the trade?

I don't know that age has anything to do with recovering from a concussion. Regardless, he didn't get the concussion because he's 37,or however old he was.

Bob wins Vezina, chalk it up to that amazing lock down Blue Jackets team defense.

Bobrovsky winning the Vezina, while Stalin boy gets bought out sums up this franchise in a nutshell.

All the yes men will figure out a way to rationalize it.

Doesnt he have like a 10 mil per offer from KHL? Will be interesting for sure to see what he gets from Columbus or what they are offering. He is young with a ton of potential but he has one stellar season. Lets see what he does in a full season.

I'm pretty sure that I read last week that Columbus was negotiating with Bob as if he was going to win the Vezina so I think Columbus will get it done. In the end Columbus will have a young Vezina winner locked up for less years and less money than Bryz. I hope Bob continues his solid play and proves worthy of the contract.

How are we to rationally judge the performance of a GM if we don't analyze the moves in hindsight? Isn't the GMs job (and what makes the job hard) to have the foresight to know that the moves will work out or not? How isn't it fair to go back and see how things panned out and base job performance on that?
