Without looking at his contract numbers and whether they work with the Oilers payroll, it's gotta be for a guy like Shea Weber. Eberle is a stud.
- brisc101

for sure I agree its just eberle makes the most sense but him and hall are tight so he wont go anywhere. I would love if r 7th and afew guys could get it done but I don't c it

Murray, as we need someone like him. Good vet Sweede for mentoring Klefbom as well. Played a ton of playoff hockey and we have few guys in the room who have. If anyone should pay what he will get it is us IMO.
- yaktalksback

He's a bottom pairing defenseman. We really should not be that team overpaying.

this is exactly it.
if we were to trade one of the kids, this is the kind of guy we'd expect back. (ebs+ in a package of course) or at the very least, someone well on his way to being of this ilk. mcdonagh, pieterangelo etc.

of course we'd love to have a minute eating franchise dman like that, but its most likely not gonna happen due to financial reasons and the low availability of these kinds of guys. so we'll prob be looking at acquiring a dman a tier down-if you will. (bogosian, staal etc) and in this case it WOULDNT take ebs etc

I thought MacTavish said there would be some changes to the roster? Getting rid of dead weight really isn't "making changes to your roster". How are the Oilers going to make changes if they aren't willing to trade assets?

If the Oilers can get a great DEF prospect or an up and coming NHL ready DEF, why wouldn't the Oilers trade RNG? Gotta give something to get something...

I don't think trading Eberle or Hall is the answer.

- brisc101

RNG? Is that the new spelling for RNH?

Why wouldn't the Oilers trade RNH? Hmmnnn...how about because Elite Level Centers are about the rarest commodoty in Pro Hockey. So rare in fact that Edmonton hasn't had one in over a decade.
Edmonton is extremely thin at Center.Gags is not a 1C.Lander is not a 2C.
Nuge is awesome.

I see posters saying Letang for Yak & the 7th, I hear the Oilers would love to add a top 4 d-man via trade or free agency & I hear the Oilers would like to move up.

But until a bold move is made like moving one or two of Cloutier's untouchable list, the organization will Never land a big name like Letang.

The Pens won't move him unless Klefbom is going the other way, no way & for some reason, people don't seem to understand this.

Who cares if you have to part with one of those guys, you need to upgrade & Letang would be perfect in Edmonton.

And offer Philly the 7th pick for Wayne Simmonds - this is exactly the type of player the Oil need & don't say straight across isn't a good deal, it's fair for both but I don't think the Flyers would do it because they love the way Simmonds plays & those type of power forwards are very hard to find.

But again, agree or disagree, that's what it's going to take to bring in these players who make a difference.

Sitting back & waiting for players to develop isn't always the correct path, adding quality experience by moving a few top young guns or prospects isn't a bad thing either.

I don't c any young guns going anywhere soon. I just remember 4 or 5 years ago every1 was saying don't trade hemsky horcoff and that turned out bad. the oilers haven't took any chance in the last 7yrs and we got no where. that's why im open to taking a chance if the return is good or bad but atleast there trying to make things happen instead of waiting all the time

We have brought guys in that have had career years as Oilers.Ryan Jones comes to mind. Mike Brown could end up being another. Hell, I would say Whitney was on pace for a career year before his injury.
If your talking about signing reclaim projects,we only really had one,and that was Barker. Who simply just sucks. Expecting improvements from crusty old farts like Belanger and Sutton is folly.

ROFL!

Are you kidding? Letang isn't worth Yakupov, nevermind throwing in the 7.

Did you even watch Letang in the playoffs? He isn't what the Oilers need.

I would look to deal the 7th for a roster dman first, but if that wasn't available, id trade it for Simmonds straight up for sure.

I wouldn't give yaks up in a deal for letang.

but while klefbom and the 7th I consider for sure, salary would be a concern seeing as we have to resign a few of the kid still.

and maybe its being abit homerish, but I can see how some are hesitant to deal klefbom, even for a stud in letang. not because he's worth more than letang. of course hes not. but our biggest need is that big two way guy much more than on a offensive dynamo.
I think it would be tough to part with the potential of that in klefbom.

prob still do it in the end though as letang is elite.

Call me an optomist, but I don't really think we need another big name on this club. I think we have a pretty talented core. The D is weak, but I expect Petry to improve (why not,he has been better each year since he made the club so far), Schultz will obviously get better, Smid might get better decision wise-tho as an athelete I think he has plateaued, Belov is a wildcard-could end up being a very good Janne Niinimaa type, and Schults is pretty solid. Could we use a top 2 D-Man? For sure. Do we NEED Shea Weber to compete. No. Obviously, the top SC contenders all have that guy, but we just need to a good regular season team right now. Strong Defense by commitee is how it will have to be for now, and thats fine.I would be happy for a solid, crusty but invigorated old vet on the bottom pairing to get signed.

ok I hate u everything I say u have something dumb to say quit commenting on my stuff, im talking about ppl that make a difference, mike brown was good but not what im talking about afew fights wow, whitney yes was doing good for 30 games but that doesn't count. ryan jones had a bad year but if he gets back to were he was 2yrs ago ok that's 1. it just seems most teams have a guy no1 wanted and they turn out awesome just wish this would happen for the oilers. afew examples Andrew shaw passed up twice in the draft then hawks take a chance wow is he all heart, another torey krug was undrafted man he d he awesome for the oilers. all I was trying to say is we never get lucky like that mostly cause they don't take chances and when they do barely works out just cant figure that out bad luck I guess.

lol he signed here so he'd have no pressure like in Toronto sorry to say, losing is accepted here and I wish that would change. plus Shultz is good on the pp and not so good defensively, has huge potential though. that's why u give him 3years to c what happens could become letang very similar, wish he could hit like le tang though huge hitter for his size still has problems with give aways under pressure and was invisible against the bruins

My comp got the AIDs a while back from porn. I took it in a bit embarrassed until met the guy who was gonna fix it and figured "this pimply dork mos def spends more time pounding his hand in fron of the comp than I do", so I just told him straight up that I got a virus downloading porn.

I got a virus from a fake anti-virus protection. Don't even know how it got on there. Kept asking for my credit card info to register it. Thank god I didn't give it. Apparently they take all your money and destroy your credit. Stay away from Trend PC Micro cillan. (frank)in scam artists.

The guy I talked to was asian. I figure has to know what he's doing. If I hadn't done my taxes already I wouldve given them to him too.
