I thought MacTavish said there would be some changes to the roster? Getting rid of dead weight really isn't "making changes to your roster". How are the Oilers going to make changes if they aren't willing to trade assets?

If the Oilers can get a great DEF prospect or an up and coming NHL ready DEF, why wouldn't the Oilers trade RNG? Gotta give something to get something...

I don't think trading Eberle or Hall is the answer.

Murray, as we need someone like him. Good vet Sweede for mentoring Klefbom as well. Played a ton of playoff hockey and we have few guys in the room who have. If anyone should pay what he will get it is us IMO.

There is no one in the UFA crop that would meet the need. Hence a trade. And even then it would be extremely difficult to do.

Well the oilers can get a great defensive prospect simply by drafting one 7th.

If they want a more established guy, why not the 7th + one of our 2nds + a guy like MPS/prospect for one? Those kinds of deals have worked well in the past and they allow us to keep our future 1C in place.

sucks cause it's such a thin FA list this year. and right when we could be moving past the drafting and finally ready to sign some quality pieces to help the kids get to the next step. all the while next years crop looks fuking amazing.

assuming we weren't able to trade for a top pairing two way guy (their aint one on the list)
I was semi interested in maybe doing it by committee like streit and ference. (streit depending on what kind of contract he asks for of course.)
