There ya go. Now your talking hockey.

Klefbom should be traded away for a Top Pairing defensive defenseman, IMO

But 7th for Simmonds straight up, I'd take that any day.

You're not missing much. Promise. The ones that they got when they first brought Octane in, .

However you are 14 years old. At that age, guys will hump a door knob if it has a reflection of a good looking girl

Smid and SR. Schultz correct?

Who'd be a good 2 way defenseman.

If there was a way to get OEL out of PHX that would be a great target. But it would have to involve Eberle, Yakupov, Klefbom etc going back the other way. Pietrangeo is also another ideal target, but no way St. Louis gives him up.

I think a good target, with a less than steep price would be Gormley out of PHX. I'd also inquire on Bogosian, but it would be a big price to pay.

Won't do it.

OEL is a top pairing guy. It'd be Gagner, Klefbom, the 7th, and 37th maybe. Or Eberle and the 7th for OEL and maybe something to even it out. Would depend on how highly Maloney values Eberle.

Steep price to get him.

there's a few guys I have in mind. bogosian etc

I was just attempting to put my 2 cents on what type of defenceman the oilers could use above all else. just my opinion though

OEL to phoenix probably isn't worth much less than hall or yaks is to us.
plus they just extended him long term.

Hello Oiler fans.

Would you trade this year's 7th overall pick, Paajarvi, Omark and Dubnyk to Montreal for Price and Markov?

- therealagent

Naw, we already have a #1 goalie.

Bogosian would be an interesting one. Has had some injuries and some ups and downs. Is trending upward though. Has a mean streak to his game along with some serious size. If we could use the 7th overall and maybe another asset to get him, I'd be all for it. It'd probably have to be the 7th, Musil, and a second rounder this year. Or perhaps the 7th and a roster player. I don't know if I would send the 7th and Klefbom for Bogosian though.

100% done. That would be amazing. The only problem with Campbell is that he's overpaid, but he's a tremendous defenseman.
- Morris

Don't hate that deal at all. BUT, 7m for 3more years might play havoc w resigning rnh and yak. Thoughts?

Both trades I would do, however, Simmonds is a RW. So we would have Simmonds, Yakupov, and Eberle.... maybe Hemsky LOL, but you get my drift. I think if we are looking for that big winger, maybe we look for a LW.

Then you run

Hall Gagner Yak
Big LW Nuge Ebs

Edit: I've thrown out sending a low round pick for Kyle Beach before.

Now maybe Simmonds can play LW, but I haven't seen it yet.

I really like the idea of this trade:

Gagner and the 7th for Dubinsky, Jenner, and the 14th overall

- ystoil

I wouldn't mind getting Beach either for one of our failed prospects. Curtis Hamilton and a 6th maybe?

I think that's a good deal. Maybe the hawks could turn him into an effective 4th line pker in a couple years. Beach has shown he can score a bit. Put him with nuge and ebs and maybe he gives us 15 to 20 goals while banging bodies.

I think you send horcoff the other way but retain half of his salary. I don't know what the original offer was for Campbell tho, so I'm not saying horcoff for Campbell straight up. But effectively it's only an additional 1.5 mill cap hit for a couple years.

concussions and now this.

as great as he'd be for us, im not sure hes worth the risk

- hugefemale dog77

100percent agree. I think our focus should be on clarkson. The guy with a proven body of work. Bickel and Horton carry too much risk. The one hit wonder or the injury prone big man. No thanks to either.

ive kinda been back and forth and changed my mind a few times. im really not convinced Clarkson is worth near what he's gonna ask. his stats seem very mediocre to me, with really one strong season.

im starting to think clowe should be the #1 target at that spot.

From what I understand he's a streaky guy in terms of offensive production. If we go that route, maybe Rene bourque will cost less.

Edit: Rene Bourque is a couple years older and is signed until 2016. I wonder if there would be a significant drop off in production

I agree 100%. Sadly, the guy we need right now is the old Whitney, before the injury.
I don't think there is any real need to go out and get a Top 30, or # 1 D-man anyway. It would be nice, but there are 2nd pairing guys or teams with 3 or 4 players that would probably be our best Defenseman if we nabbed them. Plus, with the Salary Cap dropping,we could possibly get one with picks and prospects. I'm thinking one of Marincin,Gernat or Musil plus a couple 2nd rounders (both this year or this and next).Maybe Hemsky if its to a low scoring team and we eat some salary.

I think we need a responsible guy to ride shotgun with J Schultz more than anything else, and thats the kind of guy I would target.Basically a N Schultz type only upgraded in all areas (a booming point shot , or a bit of violence). I think that player could be had.

If all it would take is the 1st,a 2nd and a prospect I would be all over that like a fat kid on cake, I think we could keep something though and they would be happy with Hemmer .

Agreed. Look after upgrading the garbage in front of Dubey first. Let the team defense prevent an average of 1 goal per game first.

Dubnyk's career average SV% is very close to Price's, and this season Dubnyk had a much better year. Switch D, and Dubnyk would have been that much better... Definitely agree... concentrate on upgrading our D, cause our starting goalie is fine.
