I think there's a shot we get him this summer. now or never really.

if not and he has another mediocre season we wont want that contract. or if he tears it up and starts really fulfilling that promise again, the sabres wont deal him

- hugefemale dog77

Well said, completely agree

I can see how you'd be willing to give up pretty much anything for him then
I don't think he'll be THAT good though
And it seems like I have a higher opinion than u on Grigorenko & Pysyk

I'd like to see us get as many 1sts as possible and add These guys to our next "core"
For me, that's how I'd rebuild

And I really doubt Colorado trades that pick anyways

- jdfitz77

Pysyk doesn't impress me. He also doesn't make me pull my hair out watching him. I think he projects at best as a #3. Grigs I think could be a very good player in the league. I don't know about PPG though. I see him topping out around 60-70 points. MacKinnion I see in the 90-100 range. This is all just speculation though because neither has shown anything at the NHL level yet.

Fair enough
I can't really offer much to say why I think they'll be better
Let's just hope I'm right,
Because I doubt Colorado is gonna trade that pick anyways

Is this trade proposal nuts?

To Buffalo...
D.Brown, Bernier, pick(2nd?)

To LA...
Ott, Ennis, #16, Makarov

yes

how about a simple Vanek for D Brown

both have 1 year left on their contracts

Kings can give Richards the C now and we can eat some of Vaneks contract

neither player is going to resign with their current team and Vanek will probably score 50+ playing with Kopitar

Work a deal with Edmonton whereby the Sabres acquire the Oilers' 7th overall pick. Trade Ryan Miller and Mark Pysyk to the Oilers for their 7th overall pick. -

Garth I do not agree with this at all.
To move up one spot you want to give them Miller and Pysyk?
I know most want Miller gone but only to move up one spot and to give what you are speculating is far too much in my eyes.

Well it won't work just because of the amount of cap hit they'd be taking on. But I don't think you can really call that moving up either since we'd be getting the 7th spot ALONG with the 8th spot which is pretty sweet, not sure I'd give up Pysyk as well for it but it isn't a terrible deal for Buffalo... but yeah not gonna happen.

Maybe not but it doesn't matter cause trades like this (EA NHL trades as I like to refer to them as) involving many high level players almost never happen. GM's are too scared to make deals like this.

I would think that Edmonton is pretty high on Millers no trade destinations

I want to know how Norm Milley is making out.
- Pierceme69

Norm is, and has been, playing in Germany. Been there for years, and loves it.

(I work in the transportation industry, and a Canadian driver I know has been his parents' neighbor for years).

I know from talking to him, that Norm feels he was never given a real shot to make it in the NHL, and that he felt he was good enough to do so.

He'd just be going to the Canadian Buffalo, except with less snow and a lot more cold.

- deks1

Cannot see Edmonton being interested in trading their top pick in a premier draft (remember that was your argument for moving 3 1sts in the top 16 for a no.1 overall) for Miller who played worse than Dubnyk and is a UFA after one season.

Besides if they want the 1st overall why not do it in one big swoop:

Miller
Pysyk
8th overall pick
16th overall pick
38th overall pick
condition 2015 1st (if Miller walks)

for:

1st overall pick
Varlamov

Definitely a huge price to pay but the top pick in a very deep draft is worth the cost.

I 100% understood that he wanted to use that 7th from Edmonton or combo of our other 1st rounders to move up to #1.
But as I stated , Miller and Pysyk is far too much to move up 1 spot.
I don't want the Sabres to overpay for Mackinnon when I want Nichushkin anyway.
I want a winger unless you intend on the Sabres relying on Stafford for scoring from the wing?

I have to agree.

We need players like Ott teaching these kids the value of hard work.

Ask any player who's done anything in this league, and every single one of them will tell you of a veteran that showed them the way when they were young.

I do not want Valarmov! Oh my God no! We have plenty of young goalies to make their case to be the number 1 . Valarmov is a joke and not needed here in my opinion.

Dude read the article again. It wasn't to move up to 7 from 8. It was to acquire the 7th pick, hence you have 7 and 8, And of course retain 16. Then trade all 3 to Colorado for 1st overall. Problem is Colorado wants to stay in top 3 so they can then draft Drouin...which they could presumptively do by packaging 7 & 8 for 3rd. Not a bad thought, just not sure that would get it done, and suddenly the Sabres get short on the D side

I see your point and while I don't disagree with it... I think dustin brown in buffalo woupd be better than ott in that role.. ott is a borderline unsportsmanlike and cant be captain material because of it... ott hits more but brown is a better scorer and is the exact kind of captain we need going forward....

Not to mention 16th, ennis and makarov for bernier and a 2nd rounder... I think we win that too... bernier and enroth splitting starts is amazing compared to hackett instead.. we could set our franchise up for a decade with a young goalie kingpin and a n actual badass captain.. probably the best captain since drury..

Brown, bernier, 2nd rounder

For

Ott, ennis, 16th overall, and makarov.

ACCEPTED!

does anyone else doubt Sabres and Oil talking deal given Vanek offer sheet? some bridges get burned and you just don't go back there. think the focus is with other previous dance partners...Nashville, LA, Calgary and possibly Avs not for 1st but Darcy/Patrick 'seem' (according to Garth's blogs) to have good relations
