it isn't a gross overpayment. Miller for the 7th straight up is not a good trade for Edmonton unless Miller extends (ignoring the fact that some or most Edmonton fans wouldn't want Miller over Dubnyk right now), and Pysyk is no where near the same value as the 7th overall pick.

While losing both of them may not be a price your willing to pay it is pretty close to what it would take to get a top prospect at an entry level deal.

Overpayment? Sure. Ridiculous gross overpayment? No.

that's fine, it is your opinion and your right in a way. But Buffalo isn't moving up 1 spot. They are getting the pick outright. When you say "to move up one spot in the draft" that means trading X + Y + 8th pick for 7th pick.

And I don't want to be a stickler, but PLEASE stop phrasing it as "moving up 1 more spot." It's not moving up 1 more spot. It's acquiring the 7th pick for two players. I still think you are under the impression that the 8th pick is involved when you phrase it that way.

Pysyk would be a handy player here. Good potential pairing partner with klefbom. I also like mcnabb and foligno.

Oilers don't want miller. Now it isn't because we think miller is terrible. It's because dubnyk was solid, millers age doesn't fit into our core going forward AND he's a ufa in a year. If the oilers were even considering that a little bit, miller would need to resign. However I think there isn't enough there for us to deal a great piece like the 7th overall to pick a great potential player or help us get a much better player to fit our needs than miller.

I would give the 7th and our ducks second rounder for pysyk and the 8th. Assuming a player we could use like Monahan or nurse are off the table. But it'd still be a huge success to leave with zadarov/ristolainen and pysyk.
