if he had "surgeon-like precision", he'd be playing. he has speed and size and doesn't always use both which is why teams have given up on him in the past.
Daigle comparisons? it's not even close. Daigle was a #1 pick who dominated juniors. Stalberg is better compared to big guys with speed but maybe not consistency like say Taylor Pyatt. Stalberg's better but that's a better comparison. He should be a 2nd or 3rd line player and will get that chance with a team like nashville or columbus or he can be a 1st line player on the oilers or leafs. - therealagent

Dedicated a blog to stalberg.... logic - Mapleleafs_91
Stalberg and Bickel are two big UFA's this summer for a team like the Oilers. Because they are two big players that have speed and can add offense. Dedicating a blog to Stalberg is almost like dedicating a blog to Chicago. Before the playoffs people would have told you that Stalberg was going to be an expensive signing and Bickel would be the affordable one. Now does Chicago find the cap room for Bickel after how he plays? Cup winning players usually sign with higher price tags.
A good example is Pisani. He led the Oilers in points during their run to the cup 6 years ago. He got a nice big contract as a UFA by the Oilers after that run. He had numbers like Bickel before and never really did anything after. This could be the start of Bickel's brighter career that may see him as a solid second line forward or he could just be doing good because he doesn't have to face top lines.
Either way this blog has relevance in an otherwise slow day. However I would rather see the rumor chart updated with Whitney's name not linked to the Oilers. We all know that is not going to happen. Both sides have said that publicly. |

Fabulous writing.......
And broke your own rule of not writing about players on teams still playing.
Joke. |

Its because Stalberg is pretty much all speed, no finish, and is a turnover machine in the neutral zone
you mention his 21 goals, but 8 came against the Columbus Blue Jackets
Playing nearly the whole season on a line with Toews, and he only managed 13 goals against teams not named Columbus despite his "killer speed"
we as hawks fans watched him too much flub perfect setups from guys like Kane, Toews, Hossa, Sharp, etc
He is a great depth guy that can open up space with his speed, but he cant be relied to be a consistent contributor with his current stone hands, he loses possession of the puck too much, and on a good day is average defending in his own zone - FourFeathers773
First, a goal is a goal no matter against who you are playing. And also this doesn't explain at all why you have bollig playing over stalberg. What does bollig bring to the hawks line up a few hits and only 6 mins of ice time. And I like your analysis of stalberg is all about his faults, the guy puts up over 20 goals in a season in the NHL but he has stone hands, isn't consistent, plays with top guys, and only scores against bad teams.

Toronto Media (Toronto Star) think so. They want to trade him while his value is high. |

Bollig is dependable. He isn't flashy like Stalberg but he doesn't make anywhere near the dumb decisions Stalberg makes. Plus Bollig will go to the front of the net. |

Apparently he is fast and has brick hands. Hmmm - mighty13duck
Yup he's got a great set of wheels, but he can't finish and he's been invisible in the playoffs the last three seasons. And as mentioned he won't take the body (read soft).
Stan should have tried to move him at the TDL...but he traded for him and the Hawks FO is loathe to admit mistakes (see Steve Montador).
Someone is going to give Vic 4mil a year it won't be the Hawks thankfully.
