Sad, writers should not be voting for the Hart, that is embarrassing. - Sell My Monkey
Subban and ovi winning their awards is quite sad. Just further proves that these awards are based on your point totals and not overall play. Should of been Tavares and Suter. Tavares was the only reason the isles were in the playoffs and Suter was a great shutdown guy while producing points. |

Players got it right!!! Sid gets the Lindsay. - Sell My Monkey
If you back the players, then you must acknowledge that Ovechkin was the best player for 3 seasons when he won the Lindsay. |

He was very good, I do think the players input is a lot more important than what the writers say.. Do you think he deserved the Hart? I'd easily say JT was more MVP for the Isles than OV was to the Caps. (you'd have to admit playing in the southleast really boosted his #'s) I just think they gave it to a guy that was only dominant for the last 15-20 games.
Sid before the jaw injury was a force every single game from the start of the regular season to... well I think you know when it stopped (Eff Boston).
Doesn't really matter. Individual Awards are nice, but in the grand scheme of things they mean little as to why I follow the sport. |

Crosby was the best player in the league, not much debate. If you take the Hart as most valuable to your team, Ovechkin is a solid choice. He had an awful start, so did Caps. He played great the 2nd half, Caps surged. You can have the opinion that someone else should have won the Hart, but to dismiss Ovechkin as an unworthy candidate/winner just says that you dislike Ovechkin and are unwilling to view it objectively. |

It's not about Crosby or Ovechkin. If I could pick one player, it would be John Tavares for sure. I'm sure you understand my reasoning here. |

Sid basically carried the team until he got hurt. People are giving other players on the team more credit than they deserve this year. Kunitz and Duper don't put up those numbers with any other center in the league. Malkin was sub-par. Neal was hot and cold.
Injury screwed Sid. Same as it ever was.... |

Completely agree. Nick Costinikos said the same thing. Players and GMs should vote. That's it. I'm not just saying that because of today's Lindsay vote either. |

Yes, he deserved it. Then Sid. Bobrovsky, Kane or Getzlaf over Ovechkin. I'm sure you see my reasoning there.
No reason to throw out the players who showed up when they could versus showing up when they felt like it. |

Yeah Kunitz and Dupuis had 61 and 59 points without Crosby. If that's bad I'd love to see good out of them.
26 goals 35 assists for Kunitz
25 goals 34 assists for Dupuis |

Completely untrue. I view it pretty objectively and just don't see OV over JT or Sid. OV was half the player he usually is for the first 24 games. I'd go as far to say he wasn't even helping. In the last half he was far and away the Caps best player. Should one half of a season where OV played great make him the Hart winner for the season? IMO hell no.
I guess it works for the writers....and for you. |

Impressive numbers.
I'd like to hear just a little more about Dupper & Cookie contract talks. We all know Shero is probably working the phones but it would be cool to see a sign everything is fine n going to be taken care of. |

Great blog Ryan.
Letang will be traded on or before the draft to the Oilers, Ducks or Avs. |

OV camps around the the faceoff dot in the offensive zone waiting for a one timer. Most of his goals were on the PP. if anything Backstrom and Ribiero deserve the award for being able to give him a good pass every time and setting the play up |

I don't see it happening, but if we could turn Letang into Seth Jones it would justify Shero's GM of the year award. I don't know what pieces Edmonton or Anaheim have to offer. |

I don't think Shero is trading him without getting an established dependable defenseman or similar prospect. Especially before July 5. Until dupuis and Cooke are signed somewhere else, forward isn't a necessity. If Letang is moved it's to sure up the defense, by adding someone big, physical, and capable of playing real defense. |

I would dock him 5k for every horrible turnover he has in the playoffs. It should lower his salary to about $12. |

If they find out that they have to trade Letang, for a trade partner, how about St. Louis? For defense, both Shattenkirk ($1.3M) and Pietrangelo ($3.167M) are RFAs.; Chris Stewart is an RFA at $3M, and we need a young RW (though he has a bit of an attitude); and finally they have Ty Rattie in the pipeline, who's a RW and not an RFA for three more years. A lot of available talent and a lot of combinations to be had for Letang if he becomes available.
Personally, I'd rather keep Letang but not for more than the Pens are reportedly willing to pay (about $6.-6.25). |

I doubt he would sign there and any trade is really going to be focused on having him sign a long term contract. |

The problem is and remains, OV showed up for half the season. He was terrible through 20 games. People were calling him out; people were talking about trading him. You can't win a major award like this by playing good hockey 50% of the time. Sorry. It has nothing to do with dislike. It has everything to do with his lack of playing good hockey for a large portion of the season.
Crosby was the best player in the league bar none. If not him, Tavaras deserved it before OV. He didn't look shoddy for 50% of the season. |

Interest in Miller?
I'm sure we'd pay half his salary to help u guys out w the cap?
And Miller would likely re-sign at a discount to play on a contender and have a legit shot at the cup... Which I'm sure he'd win with Pitt |
