Again, Wang tried to build a complex/arena with his own money but the jerks from the county rejected it. As much as Wang is an idiot when it comes to hockey, he can't take the blame for the arena. Players will now want to start coming now that they are competitive and will be moving to possibly the nicest arena in the sport in 1-2 years.

If Wang was willing to build it himself, why was there a referendum asking taxpayers for $400mm to overhaul the Coliseum?

Again, I hope that the Isles manage to stay competitive. It's more fun when they are.

Free agents generally go with who writes them the biggest checks. It's nice the Isles are in Brooklyn, but money talks for free agents. Maybe Wang opens up the checkbook, maybe not. I think that component is to be determined whether they get anywhere close to the salary cap ceiling.

Unfortunately, the Flyers are sort of heavy on stay at home type guys right now. I'd certainly be open to a camp try out type situation.

OK, I have to go past his Moms house (helped build it) and do a quote tomorrow. I will stop by and see if she is home, I will tell her I talked to Snider and he wants him at camp. Small towns

Yeah, I think Schnider should just hang em up and hand the net to Louongo.

I for one don't want Luongo anywhere near this team.

Bufflin either

I wouldn't. That cap recapture stuff worries me.

Because he first tried to get approval on the lighthouse project, a billion dollar deal, that the idiots from the county reject, all politics. So now that they lose the team, they are willing to take bids on renovating the coliseum. That's why the county is in financial trouble, idiots. The referendum was his last attempt. He loses 20 million a year for 10 years, what else should he have done builiding wise.

Narrowly beat out Dominic Roussel by a selling three dozen donuts on the last day of May. Lucky for him, Dustin Byfuglien stopped in for a light snack.

In the past, players took less to go elsewhere. Now that the team is staying its a new arena, hopefully free agents will want to come, although they might be fine with their top prospects

Do you seriously think that players would want to come to the Islanders- the team who just barely scraped into the show this year for the first time since Ronald Reagan took office- because of a new rink?

From what I have read, the costs at the outset were pegged at around $25mm, and the developers consistently changed plans and failed to submit proper documentation before Kate got involved with her ridiculous plan.

Still seems odd to me that Snider was able to simply go ahead and build his new arena, without using taxpayer money, in the space of 5 or 7 years, and Wang had his plans drag on for over a decade and that it finally died after a vote for $400mm in taxpayer money was shot down.

I mean, the city of Philadelphia is hardly the model of efficient government. But Snider's arena was built and all hurdles cleared in a timely manner.

No, I think they would rather go to the team that last won the cup when Ford was the President, that one that didn't make the playoffs but have a nice rink

Yeah, we're the city that elected a corpse to Congress, has state senators hauled off to jail, and has as much political games as anywhere in the country.

Philly's hardly a politics free city.

I understand NYC is a huge market. With that being said, I'm not sure the best approach for the Isles is to act like a small market team and rely on just their prospects. Certainly, I'm not advocating spending lavishly for the sake of appearing to be big market. However, even some of the Isles young guys like Hamonic and Moulson are coming up for significant raises in the next few season. No offense, JT had to be signed by the organization to have any credibility of running a professional organization. Wang is going to have to further invest dollars in payroll both to retain and improve the roster thru free agency. Look at the two teams in the Stanley Cup, their cores are combination of home grown and some rather pricey free agents to get the teams over the hump.

I still don't trust Wang as I think he somehow has something to do with one of the new bids for the renovating of the coliseum area, but without the Isles. Sounds kind of strange, considering the Barkleys builder is involved. More political garbage. Hope he sells the team to Prokorov

I would also want to go to the organization that has missed the playoffs 7 (?) times in their existence. The same organization that is second only to the Red Wings in playoff series wins since 2003 (yes that includes the season that shan't be spoken of as well as the playoffless season that is wrapping up now....).

You know. Rather than an abysmal organization that hasn't been relevant since....well.....yeah

There just always seems to be some kind of BS floating around Wang. Toss in the other stuff, and it seems that he may well have pissed off officials enough for them to make a joke out of the situation.

It just always strikes me odd, when a guy says he'll pay for evrything and then a couple year later the taxpayers are asked for money

Hamonic is an RFA, Moulson has 1 more year left on his contract but by losing Streit, they do need to spend money. We'll see if they do it, who knows. At least, the team has finally arrived but now they need to take the next step which I think they will
