No speculation, his source is definitely no longer employed. - druryisclutch
alot have speculated that it was k adams, but i remember him on here before that and he called the adams hire morning it happened so by process of elimination- JP i guess???
he is pretty spot on......I was sold when he brought up that Adam could be sent down during the 11-12 season. He was sent down a week later, right after the all star break - rustbelt82
He "could be". Thats a stretch of being spot on. He always uses could be and might be. Those words encompasses both sides of the argument. He is logical and clever in his grammer. Nothing more.
1. For those thinking Myers & 8th pick could get Duchene, you're off your rocker. Duchene is untouchable after last season and a Dman that has regressed for 3 straight years and is on an awful contract will not get you anywhere close, and no the 8th doesn't make up for it. A deal based around Stastny and Myers would make more sense as they could both use a change of scenery and have similar cap hits.
2. Avs have no interest in Miller because they are not in win now mode. Yes Miller is better than Varly however Varly is a) only 24, b) still developing with a young still developing team, c) on a much better contract cap wise and still an RFA once that is up. There is no reason to believe that the Avs would take a soon to be 33 year goalie, pending UFA at the end of next season with an unfriendly cap hit at this point in their rebuild...it just doesn't make sense for them at this time.
3. Roy himself as said he will not be moving out of the top 3, maybe top 4. That said, if the Sabres want the #1 overall then they'll have to make 2 trades to get it, first get into the top 3/4 then trade for #1. Otherwise, yes it is going to take a massive offer to get Roy and company to move down to #8, one that I imagine Regier would not do or if he did, Sabre fans would be really pissed about...because here's the thing, even though Jones/Mackinnon hasnt played a game you're still essentially trading for a franchise center/Dman that you'd have at a cap friendly hit for 3 years plus own the rights to for at least another 4 years and an asset like that is not cheap at all, it would actually be one of the most expensive assets you could trade for outside of an established generational/franchise player on a long term contract... - silence22
Thanks for the Book that you just wrote!
My response to all of your haggpagg is that what you think it is fair and unfair is totally different from what your GM thinks and does!

1. Stastny will NOT get you Myers.
2. Miller makes total sense. He has his detractors, but so does everyone else (I can't stand Patrick Kane, but he's still a great player. Just not someone I'd want.) You have a new coach, who has great clout already, and if he says he wants to win sooner than later, Sakic will respect that (and you're not really that far away). An elite goalie can make all the difference sometimes.
3. Whatever helps you sleep at night. Anything, and anybody, can be had for the right price.

You really believe that you could get Duchene for Myers and the 8th, or that young rebuilding team needs a 33 year old UFA after next season as their goalie when they're not in win now mode, or that trading for a franchise player is going to cost an arm and leg when Roy has said pretty much that exact thing? Then you really need to take your homer glasses off...

Who's worse honestly? Statsny who gets paid almost 7 mil and is 26 and barely averages a point every other game now or Myers? I wouldn't even consider bringing Stastny here as a FA let alone trading for him

Why would you eliminate Adams and guess JP based on what you said?

If I'm giving up on Myers already, it's not going to be for Stastny. You already know what you're getting in Stastny, which is probably a 50-60 point players, at this point.
I see that the two of us could be making out soon. Alot of stuff in the works right now. We all will know soon enough once the dominos fall into place.

that price includes parking for the season and a jersey.
cost more in buffalo just for parking... - battelmt
My dad was a season ticket holder for the caps. Made it easier to get good tickets for the whole family when the sabres came in. Had a bunch of cool little perks here and there (parking NOT one of them). And sold at a profit/donated tickets to games that he didnt go to. Wasnt a bad deal..

Never said Stastny would get Myers, said a deal based around those two. I understand that Myers has more value but it's not considerably more.
Miller is a great goalie, not disputing that, but the Avs have invested a good amount in Varly and he fits the dynamic of the Avs very well, ie young, still developing, good cap hit and an RFA when it's done. If the Avs were a legitimate cup contender next season it would make sense but that is not the case, their defense is horrendous. Fix that first then go after a star goalie if Varly still hasn't developed into a legit starting goalie.
Absolutely anything can be had at the right price but Roy did say, on RDS, that he won't be trading out of the top 3, maybe top 4 unless it was an offer he absolutely could not refuse ie a massive overpayment. Think of it this way, when was the last time the team picking 1st overall not only traded that pick but dropped down out of the top 3/4...it doesn't happen and it doesn't take a genius to figure out that it's because the cost would be ridiculous
