Homer said yesterday that he heard if they stay at 8 and Lindholm was available they would not pick him

He also said that he thinks Vanek will be moved and Miller will stay put......keeping Miller makes no sense what so ever. I hope Homer is wrong

- rustbelt82

I read Homer's comments last night and found them to be interesting to say the least. Vanek going and Miller staying tells me that when Pegula offered that monster deal to Van and he turned it down tells me he'll be the first to go. That also tells me that they haven't had that conversation with Miller yet. Will Vanek get moved to the Wild? Who knows.

It also appears that Pegula talking to players like Myers and Vanek tells me he wants to be more pro active with what is going on within the organization and also I get the sense that Regier is on thin ice and needs to make a big move this summer.

I don't think they"ll lose in the first round every year.

wait they make it for the first time in a generation and now they are making it every year?

Agreed. Penguins should have traded the #1 pick in 2005 so Crosby didn't have to play with a bunch of scrubs (and Lemieux for like 10 games).
- jmatchett383

When Crosby was drafted, were there any doubts he wasn't the best player in the draft?
This year guys like Barkov and Nichuskin according to some scouts are maybe the best players. Would the Sabres have to trade that much with TB to get the 3rd pick? Like I said there is no bonafide number 1 like Crosby that you should part with that much to aquire

they're lucky this was a shortened season, no playoffs would have continued.

Lets be honest here, if Barkov Nichuskin drouin were one year younger they would go #1-2 next year.

the reason there is no clear #1 is some(many) gm's dont beleive in taking d men high and colorado with a new gm doesnt have the track record to know what they will do.

Possibly. IMO Burke has done a great job building that team. They were down 3-1 and came back and should have beat the bruins, who are now in the stanley cup.

Let me know how happy you are when the Leafs make the playoffs but lose in the first round every year.
- theblueandgold

if they play like they did after game one ill be ecstatic

they are the only team thus far to give the possible champs any type of trouble, without their 10 min implosion they would be in the 2nd round

im not saying a rebuild is bad for the sabres... just taking away 2 of their top 6, and their starting goalie and replacing them with guys that need time to develop..... that doesnt guarantee the playofffs

Darcy Regier has been supposedly really good at adding "depth" for years. For some reason, he is considered one of the better drafting GM's in the league. I'm sick of "adding players". I want an impact guy, someone Darcy has never really acquired since Briere.
- buffalofan19

Vanek, miller, drury, Campbell those guys aren't impact guys?

Keeping them doesn't guarantee anything either, as they have proven that.

I agree.....very interesting comments from Homer indeed. They basically confirmed what we all thought was going on with the organization.

Hopefully TP will use this as an eye opener.

The trade proposal for the top pick is ludicous.
To give up that much for the player they could take is insanity.

The Myers + 8th overall for Duchene, now that I must admit is VERY interesting.

I wonder how many would do that deal?
Keep in mind you will need to pay Duchene after next year.

I've been waiting for this, and knew before too long, it would happen.

Terry wants to win. Badly. But he also wants a smooth sailing ship, for many reasons.

He cannot ignore what Ruff, Vanek, and whoever else has to say about the GM. Regier is clearly the problem, and it's about time someone opened the owner's eyes to our incompetent GM.

I can't wait for Homer's response to this one, if he does respond.

If you do not believe that Myers is a number 1, or believe in him in general, then you do this deal.
Duchene is damn good!

16th and myers. not 8th. no way. too much. and i rather have duchene than stastny. plus if we trade them and get duchene they would totally draft mac to fill his spot

They wouldn't do it with the 16th when they would trade Stastny.
It would have to be the 8th, and I think I would do that deal if Colorado would.

We lose that deal IMO. An 8th pick and calder candidate who could regain form. feels like chard to islanders but worse haha. i love duchene but not with 8th and myers

I was asked on Twitter yesterday (why the Hell aren't you following me?) at
whether I think the Sabres have a legitimate shot at trading with the Avs for the 1st overall pick. My answer:

SabresBuzz ‏@SabresBuzz 16h @blueandgold27 @BNHarrington McNeeley shocked the world when he KO'd Tyson back in the day #puncherschance

- garth

Didn't Tyson blow that guy up in 1 punch, knock him down again with the second punch, and the trainer then stopped the fight? I don't think McNeeley shocked anyone, and I don't think he KO'd Tyson. So not only are you incorrect about hockey, but boxing too

You have a point, but as I said, if you do not believe in Myers, then Buffalo wins that trade.

This!
8th plus Myers is alot to give up for Duchene!
You could very well have a player as good as Duchene with the 8th pick this year!
