i personally dont think you can overpay for a franchise player. so hard to get- esp in buffalo. surrounding parts so much easier to add. plus the initial negative effect will put you in position to draft another one next year... - battelmt
I agree whole heartedly. You can draft underachieving defenseman every year, and skillful Russian centers who skate relatively poorly can be had also.
You can count all the franchise players in one hand that the Sabres have had in their history. I think TP wants a new face of the franchise and he and Darcy realize you don't win the Cup without highly skilled, franchise players. |

I commend all of you for staying in this conversation this long. But IMO this is not the year we get to make the big splash tradeup or whatever. No team picking top 5 is trading out for anything we can offer.
Miller is only valueble to team he wont play for like Edmonton. Vanek makes a Million too much and the cap is going down. This wont end with fireworks like people want. End of story. - Buffalo--Sabres
Also, no team is going to want to give up those picks and the chance to draft the top end players. |

Yeah I'm captain buzzkill.
I think we will make sound picks and improve the organization. But why a gods earth would teams skip the opportunity to take someone like Jones or Mackinnon? |

Agreed!
Trade Miller and Vanek to 2 separate teams, and get the best possible picks for them, and draft for the future!
To hell with the 1st overall pick, IMO! - Sabresfan88
Exactly, and if we do that we will most likely suck for a few years. Maybe then we get our #1 pick without giving up the farm. |

id be ok with dealing van and miller and walking away with a fist full of prospects from the "deepest draft since 2003"...
DR has mentioned LA's method of rebuild- dealing top prospects for star players (which is the only way to get an established star to bflo). the more chips the better... |

I hear that, but we dont need to sell the farm,
Those players dont get touched. Myers & grigo are going nowhere thats for damm sure
Miller, ott, mcnabb, 8th overall to col:
For 1st overall
Unhappy goalie
Guy who leaves next year
One prospect
Swap picks
Do they want a 2nd? Id give em it
Sekera? Dead weight take him. We have assests. We dont need ti give up the new core . We have dead weight & col is gonna take it.. |

Because the crows on Hockeybuzz keep cawing about how it will happen. Everyone on here is linked somehow to the orgainzation which is has created a grassroots movement that has influenced the powers that be in the Sabres organization. This power surge has made its way to Colorado where the Av's senior management has succomed to the power of the anonymous voice of Sabre fans on Hockeybuzz. |

You are talking/posting like I did last summer. He was untouchable, the Sabres should not trade him etc, but after last season, my belief that he can't be traded has faded. For the 1st pick overall, Myers can be traded and without doubt he is in the conversations to move up into the top 3. He has to be because the Sabres only have so many valuable players and he hasn't sh*t on himself enough yet to deter other teams from wanting him. |

Well if the deep draft of 2003 is any indication: we get to draft a coburn type at 8 and a Bernier type at 16. |
