Giroux? I'm glad we shipped that clown off, this isn't a wrestling team!

The opposite of this is how I feel. I want him eased into the NHL and that doesn't happen if he is counted on to be our 3rd line center next year after a big trade that sends a promising young center away. He wold be meat thrown to the dogs in Philly. No thank you! If he looks ready at camp, then let hm anchor the 4th line and move up if/when injuries occur. Best use of his ELC IMHO is to play him when he shows he is ready and make him earn every step of the way up the ladder.

He'll have gobs of ice time in key situations. He'll be the unquestioned leader of his team.

I submit he would get more out of that than playing with Jay Rosehill for 8 minutes a night and burning a year of his ELC.

He's had that already. Time to present new challenges to him. You advance by playing against competition that is better then you are. Not by being the big man on Campus that is far advanced over the competition.

El Oh El.

One more year of junior hockey will not kill this kid.

Claude Giroux did it when he was 19 as I recall and it worked out OK.

It's not about hurting him, it's about helping him. Giroux did not play a 4th Junior Season as an overager.

Claude Giroux was 19 years old entering the 2007-08 season playing with Gatineau.

Just as Laughton will be 19 entering this coming season.

Im not debating that... my point is that G only played one more season in the Q after being selected in the draft.

I personally do not feel Laughton will benefit from playing a FOURTH year in the OHL. He has already played at every level... He was his team leader last year. Him playing 8-10 minutes a night in the NHL, against NHL competition is vastly more beneficial in my eyes.

Stating that the Flyers already have 3 top centers is a non-factor to me. Are we gonna wait till one of those three guys are removed from the roster before Laughton gets a crack?

Oh, and for the record... In his brief stint with the Flyers last season... His ice time averaged 11:31/game

I'd prefer he remain in junior for 1 year more while Adam Hall plays 4th line center. You know, so we can actually win key defensive face offs this season.

What if having Laughton on the Flyers makes them a better team?
