I think Yandle costs more than Couts

not sure how much more, but that doesn't get it done

Flyers need better production from the current defenseman on the roster. That's something that has to change next year.

it's like blood from a stone, defensive D man can only give you what he can do, thats like asking Streit to be a shutdown guy, aint going to happen

thats the problem, it's up to Phoenix, & what they want, they could look for the best deal & get better maybe
- puckhead17

Certainly, they could. I don't dispute that. But if you just go pure upside, a guy who played heavy minutes for a World Championship gold medalist, a 20-year-old, 6-4 center who is already responsible defensively and a second in a deep draft...that's not a bad haul.

No reason the defensive group can't play better or more consistent next year.

no it's not, but Yandle is a dynamic player, & it's not off of potential

true. i think that was a big problem with coburn for you guys. trying to force him to do too much in an offensive role hurt his overall game.

That's the coaches job to adjust to the personnel on the roster. Put your players in situations that they are capable.

they wanted him, because he skates so well, to replace carle's points, no going to happen, & technically, carle really is ok in that department, he really isn't dynamic & look what he raked in $$$ wise.

Well hopefully Streit helps.

Still think goaltending needs to be addressed.

Hell, you know what? Couturier, plus Gustafsson, plus the 41st should get the Flyers the sixth or seventh pick in the draft, plus a third-rounder.

Because they wanted to win a Cup. Those were no brainer moves, especially considering they actually have a bunch of good young prospects. Most notably on defense. Do you think Dupuis and Kunitz have years like that playing with anyone else?

Oh, I despise the Penguins, take all the shots you want. I just respect how Shero does it. Their farm is much better than ours.

- cmr.266

in all fairness, both dupuis and kunitz are actually pretty solid players. if dupuis cashes in and gets like over 4 mil a year in free agency, then yeah someone may get buyers remorse. but the numbers he produces away from crosby are nearly identical to playing with him. and he is one of the few pens committed to a two way game. excellent penalty killer as well.

and as far as the farm team goes, id like it a lot better if it had any forward talent to speak of other than bennett who is already up

No if I deal Couts it's for someone that can help us now, we have holes to fill & they still want to win

carle is an okay puck moving guy, and he cashed in big time. just goes to show you how valued those guys are around the league, even if they have little else to their game. the gonchar contract, and what you guys will give streit are a barometer of it. its ridiculous, but it is just the way it is. even in trade value, they have such a premium. its why shero is so hell bent on drafting them and only them.

If they sign Streit and draft Pulock you essentially have your D man for now and the future without selling the kids, all for the cost of Harper and a 4th.

It's why I'd shy away from Zadorov or maybe even nurse at the draft. Ristolanen however most have as a sure shoe in to be a top 4 puck moving dman. At 11 I don't need my dman to have #1 potential. If he's a sure fire top 4 puck mover just draft
