Didn't Nichushkin score the goal that robbed our Juniors of the bronze this year? And he plays against men in the KHL while Druin plays against kids. I'm not saying one will definitely be better than the other, I'm not qualified to do so. Just my opinion.

Meh. If the Leafs can't wait for any youngsters (current owned or future from picks) to fill those roles then flip the picks and prospects for a player that will who would be more effective than Lecavalier.

If I was in Nonis' shoes and the Leafs' owners okayed the $$$ spending, I'd do two deals of this sort, one with Tampa and the other with NYI and use the two compliance buyouts on Lecavalier and DePietro. Then either use all those prospects and picks for the roster or flip them all for a proven player like, I don't know, Stamkos. (Weird to be involving Tampa again but I would love to see Stamkos in a Leafs jersey. Man crush! )

Or forget about NYI altogether and just focus on Tampa. Work out a deal such that the Leafs get Vinny to buy out and Vinny resigns with Tampa, ship Stamkos and Tampa's first for Toronto's first this year and next and a few players. I'd be willing to part with Kuley then and whoever else plus likely any prospect other than Reilly.

The Leafs can't outspend any team cap-wise anymore (tanking and drafting a real franchise superstar will never happen) so use that money in ways that can be taken advantage of. Do you think Bettman would block those transactions that help out Tampa and NYI fiscally when those two franchises have been firm supporters of Bettman? Not a chance.

Drouin is my favourite player in the draft... I am not convinced his game will transfer well to the NHL. He is also the last thing he Leafs need in terms of skillset.... Undersized winger...... we need size, a centre and defensive defenseman
