I'd be okay with doing a deal like that for Tampa but I'd either like some more from Tampa or less from the Leafs (unless those Leafs players aren't in the plans for 2013/2014.)
The Leafs are doing a huge favour for the Bolts basically paying out LeCav's contract and allowing him to possibly resign cheaply back in Tampa. There needs to be another 1st round pick or a really good prospect thrown in there. - lister
1) Why the hell would we want to buy out Lecav so tampa can resign him, id just keep him along with their 1st. bumhole us |

Even if by some miracle the Leafs obtained the 3rd over-all pick, would they select Druin? If Barkov and Nichushkin are still available would Nonis and Morrison pick one of them? I'm not a scout, but I think that MacKinnon and Nichushkin will be the best players coming out of this draft. |

I bet Tampa are salivating.... - Pecafan Fan
Not having to pay Vinny loads of $$$$ due to a compliance buyout is "salivating" while also retaining a promising pick in a very depthy draft, and a beauty two-way forward with Kulemin. I think they at least call Nonis back. |

I don't see any value in having Lecavalier, that's why. The Leafs are effectively trading cash for picks and prospects. |

What has Nichushkin done or proof that he is the better player than drouin? Or comparable to guys like kopitar or malkin in their younger years playing in the KHL,SEL, etc
Its basically contradicting ourselves, example last year we picked morgan rielly, why didnt we pick grigorenko? Posted alot of points no? Big body, big frame? Was a centerman that we dont have alot of? But we picked morgan rielly. |

"The deal would have Toronto moving “two mid level roster players and a package of draft picks for Tampa Bay’s 3rd selection overall and Vincent LeCavalier, who would then be bought out.” That would presumably allow LeCavalier to return to the Lightning for a lesser amount than his current $7.7 Million salary."
In a heartbeat - jnwood2517
I totally missed this part of the blog when I didn't read it the first time.
If the Leafs have been instructed to use their financial might then really this is the only way they can achieve it in the Cap world.
I still wonder how the NHL would look at these cash for player deals. |

Did you take a look at this trade proposal?
Vinny Lecavalier + 3rd overall pick (potential franchise player)
in return of a UFA to be, Kulemin who's been terrible for 2 years straight and a bunch of random picks thrown in for good measure.
I mean, Come on... |
