I don't think Nonis is crazy about buying out Grabo this off-season (maybe next year), but if a big name comes available, he might just do it.
It would be hard to justify keeping Grabo at 5.5 if you could get Richards or Vinny for less. - Leeman4Gilmour
If the leafs get someone like lecav in a trade along with tampas 1st, grabo or liles are potential candidates to be bought out which will happen this year if not next year, with komi being bought out this year. Easily you can probably include one of liles or grabo in a deal for lecav, leaving the other to be bought out. Which still leaves the leafs in a good position, yes we keep lecavs crap contract, but hes more qualified for the 1st line centerman job over bozak and grabo.

Hearing that if Brad Richards gets bought out, he could be had for 3m per season. I'm not a big fan of the guy, but definitely a better option then both Bozak and Grabovski based off of price alone. - ThePresident
I read a chart that states the tax strucure.
If you have a 7m a year contract, if you play in Florida, Nashville or Dallas. You would net 4.1-4.3 over the course of the season.
If you play in Montreal,Toronto or Ottawa, you would net 3.5-3.7
People don't realize that. That's why it always seems like were over-paying and probably why players don't sign here often. Parlay the contract with the media BS that comes with it
I'm telling you after the MacRussian line died, all three of them have been playing subpar. It just hasn't been the same since. And I blame Wilson. - UsernameUnknown
Time to reconstruct the 3rd line, trade them all away

Why would anybody know what he "could" be had for right now? I'm not blaming you but your source is full of poop. I doubt he gets bought out but if he does why would he already have put out there what he'll be accepting. Numbers are generated through negotiations ...he's not there yet.
Anybody verify that the buyout period starts 48 hrs after final whistle?

You guys have a serious problem. I came here to praise the Leafs and all I see is bitterness. The next thing I'm gonna hear is that if Boston beats Chicago so Toronto is probably the 2nd or 3rd best team in the NHL. - Orpik44

Yeah that's what's being said by the TSN guys. Ends July 5th when the UFA day starts.
Then the draft is June 30th at 3 pm, all 7 rounds, all day! Gonna be trades, buyouts and draft picks. Should be crazy!
Could the leafs not buy out Vinny and then resign him as a leaf for real cheap like 1-2 mil for 5 years a season and Vinny wins because he would get avv 9-10 mil a season.

Trade em as one whole unit. A collectable 3 piece set! - UsernameUnknown
Might as well, the funny thing is... well actually its kind of sad, that year when all of them were producing, imagine we traded that whole line we would of got a poop load of value for all 3, i was actually on board seeing them all traded instead of resigning here

Not to mention it's easier to be a tough guy when you have back up/support. Those two and Fraser make the whole team a little heavier and taller. - The Law
biggest thing people seem to be overlooking. Take those guys off the team and watch everyone's chip on their shoulder get a little smaller
