Although much more minor but people seem to forget how we got Franson.
- mmold

franson could be a player that was offered to Tampa...
they could use a PP D-man in Western Florida.

i'd rather take barkov over drouin
- matt1337

Trade up to 3 then trade down to 5 and grab another 2nd rounder while picking Monahan/Lindholm/Barkov

Dude, they so badly need to get rid of his contract it makes my butt hurt.

And I don't like being all butt-hurt.

Another 7 years, at a cap hit of almost $8 million.

And lots of pain if he retires early.

I agree with you that Kulemin is worth squat, but c'mon - Tampa needs to shed Vinny.

- Atomic Wedgie

Is TBay a cap spender? Not sure they really care about cap hits. Cash might matter though. Vinny's getting 10, 10, 10, 8.5 over the next 4 years.

leafs were between Morgan Rielly and Hempus Lindholm.
Grigorenko was never an option.

- aries1976

I had seen an interview before last years draft where Nonis said they had a defenseman (Rielly) and a forward (presumably Galchenyuk) tied for their #1 rating, and that if the forward was available at 5 they would take him over the defensman.

and Gards/Lupul.

It's basically how Burke made our team.. letting him go last offseason was stupid, he would have carved a team in this situation.

I do kinda miss his pressers and BlockBuster (frank)!n Announcements, but I will never forgive him for the Aulie trade, or knocking up Hazel

Basically constructed this team... got rid of the poop and turned it upside down into something new.

JVR, Phaneuf(was worth the trade), Kessel(looks good), Gardiner, Franson, Drafted Kadri, Lupul .. all the key pieces and reasons why the leafs are good, i think the team work my both burke and nonis was a good combo

It was pretty unfair to fire him right before what would have been his biggest off-season. Every move he made was set up to position us for the 2013 off-season.

We have flexibility that many teams can only dream about.

Yes, I will, but I will enjoy watching our backup Bryz talking about Bears and the Universe and Rob Ford.

I think he even put in rules into the CBA that helps big clubs like Toronto like the trading salary/caphit along with a player (ex. lombardi+50% salary)

His biggest downfall was Wilson, If not for him it would be a completely different story.

Would you rather have some tough guys who can chip in though? I'm sure Orr is a great guy and his team mates like him but would their not be smarter options?

Roster spots are valuable.

but nonis was there with him and probably had been planning it out with him so i'm sure it won't hinder us to much from what burke could have done

he's a guy (Orr) that is more easily benched, because he knows what his role is,
for the most part he is the 12th/13th forward... if it doesn't work out, doesn't really hurt the cap much at all.
