I don't mind Horton however I would rather a big nasty, rough defencemen. - 2raven2
Except Horton we can just sign without the loss of an asset, A big nasty D-men will need to be traded for.

SO im really bored and decided to look at the salary cap room that islanders have.
Cap floor = 44 million
Team Cap as of today = 32,324,833
Money to spend to hit floor = 11,675,167
Adding in Brock Nelson and Nino: 6,055,167 left to spend
Signing Hamonic: Would like to know what ppl think this contract will be. I know hes an RFA...so will his cap hit still remain kind of low? not sure how those work... 3 mill a year? If around 3 million...3,055,167 left to spend
Signing Bailey...assuming around 1.5 mil a year? 1,555,167
That leaves Garth with 1,555,167 to spend without a goalie signed...unless Wang decides to go over the cap floor, I highly doubt we see anyone signed...
edit: this is also without adding Donovan and Hickey onto the cap.... (if Hickey is resigned) - Dedshark
Yep. I posted the same thing last week. We can reach the floor just with extensions and resignings.

Same here. With guys like Nino and Nelson the big nasty dman is more important than Horton. - ses111

Good move by the Islanders to get rid of Streit and get what they can from the Flyers. |

AV working out deal with Rangers reportedly - Cptmjl
And WE have Crappy!
This pretty much crystalizes the argument over Garth.
A GM's job is to improve his team whenever possible, in any way possible.
AV, Eakins, Ruff & Tortorella all available. No report ANY of them spoke/interviewed with Islanders. NONE OF THEM.
So, either Garth believes
A) Capuano is a coach capable of winning a stanley cup
or
B) The teams' talent can compensate for anything
To not kick the tires is unacceptable.
Why doesn't dee or staple ask these kind of questions? God forbid anyone rocks his boat and risks being thrown overboard. |

In all fairness, it is more likely the Isles sign Dee to be the new coach before Torts. ALso AV is not the answer to the Rangers problems. The coach was just a scapegoat to their lack of depth up front. GIve it two years before the Rangers fire AV and hire Messier |

That Newsday troll could be the funniest troll I have ever seen. Claims Tavares is a 3rd line center on a good team and Stepan is far and away better than Tavares. I am thinking hes an Isles fan in disguise trolling the Rangers. He cant be that much of a homer |

Why rock the boat when things are going well?
The team is starting to come around... playing a system that suits them and works.
Add Strome, Donovan, and a little more grit. Maybe Bickell or Horton.
The biggest question is in net!!!
Poulin, Nilsson....??? |

That's really not fair considering the playoff run. If things don't go we'll next year, then we can worry about changing things. But at this point things are going well. How can you make a replacement after the one year they make the playoffs

From RSports:
The New York Islanders have given Kirill Petrov the incentive of a guaranteed place in the roster to ensure he switches to the NHL when his contract in Russia expires a year from now, his agent says
and further clarification...
Igor Eronko
@IgorEronko
@mikeybeatz911 @KeithLHHockey he does not have any opt clauses but he wants to play in NHL, so he'll come one day, probably next year |

Don't think their respective teams will let either of them enter free agency...I think goalie and a defenseman are what the Isles will focus their efforts on...one would think... |

How does this crystallize anything other then your dislike for anything Snow does or doesn't do?
How do you fire a coach that directed the team to better then expected goals?
Each guy you mentioned has been fired because they did not reach the expectations of the franchise.
When the expectations are not being reached then Cappy will be sent packing, until then I have no problem seeing how far they can go with him.

I never really expected him to come but at the same time I never completely wrote him off. Could be a great option at RW next to Tavares that would cost us zero assets. |
