You're a cool dude -- thanks for calming me down and, for the record, I think the combination of Craig MacTavish and Dallas Eakins is going to be awesome.

The Oilers have some work to do with their bottom six and I wouldn't necessarily be afraid of trading one of their young players in a fair deal for some size on the wing, but at the same time, there are plenty of moves they will be able to make, with the cap coming down and buyouts to come, that should see them continue to improve.

Hemsky and Horcoff seem to be the sacrifices this year. Our young guys are too good to trade. When they play together they are amazing. It would be like moving Voracek off of Giroux's line. You wouldn't get two lines of awesomeness you would get two good players playing with people that can't keep up. We have 5 good young forwards. We would like to add someone like Horton on the wing but Paajarvi seems to improve each month and he is a big guy. So we might have our 6.

Then we can try for guys like Nystrom, Bickel, Cleary, Antropov... large bottom 6 players (although Bickel is playing like a top 6 right now) that are known to use their body and play two way games.

Gonchars contract is also ridiculous. Edler is not as good as Hamhuis or Bieksa who get paid less and they signed Edler for an 80 year extension. Plus I don't like Edler. I think he is weak defensively. Good offensively. His contract is Evil because he would be our highest paid guy for a long time. A very good chance that over those years Justin, Petry, Klefbom and maybe one of the other younger players could out play him. He could end up being our future horcoff on D. However if that becomes the case we would have amazing dmen and would be able to trade one easily.

Still, sucks to have to take that much of a cap hit for a guy that is not a two way player. However he was just an example. There are other teams that we could trade with as well.

I've watched a lot of Oilers games this season and last, and the lack of a guy who could do what Whitney did when healthy has been the biggest problem plaguing this team for a while now. Not Defensive Dmen, but a true two-way guy. Infer what you will about my geographic authority, I know a lot of Oilers fans feel the same way.

His advanced metrics were...spotty. He's got a huge shot and his mobility has improved greatly. He could probably use another 25 games or so of heavy minutes in the AHL to start next season, but he should be as ready as he'll ever be after that.
